@@Mamenber nREM-1 is the first stage of sleep and is believed by many to be the stage of sleep where you are most creative. Thomas Eidson would actually nap with a metal ball in his hand so that when he began to drift-off the ball would fall and wake him so that he could then write down any new ideas he had during nREM-1. nREM-1 is also the sleep stage where hypnagognic hallucinations occur. While most people experience a sense of falling that then wakes them up, your mind conjured up the spunds of farts in place of the cannons lol
@@padriazozzriaorizifian8672apparently Tchaikovsky hated his own piece bc he found to be “uninspired” or something like that. Then again, the tech of his time made it impossible to play with the cannons and church bells like intended so maybe that’s another reason
It's a more evocative sound for us today because modern artillery is almost universally accompanied by the sound of the empty brass shell casing striking the ground after the shot. At the time the piece was written, well before the advent of modern quick-firing guns, it would've sounded cacophonous and weird, and not much like a cannon at all.

The pipes are a nice little addition. They show the damage caused by the cannons. Tchaikovsky went so hard with this piece that lots of carnage came as a result.

Now I'm waiting for the metal pipe version of the other cannon-laden classical piece- Te Deum from Puccini's Tosca! And I'm also waiting for the metal pipe version of hammer of Mahler's 6th symphony
