I know your husband has the height and figure to look good in almost any outfit but I do think that the Victorian evening dress is very definitely more dashing and elegant than the evening wear of today.
I love the corset ties on the vest! My husband's modern vest back (with a metal clip) is always slipping and losing its "tailored" look. I might alter it to be a little closer to this!
You mean the lacing in the back of the waistcoat? A standard from second part of the 184) century or so, and nothing to do with a corset. Just regulates the fit as needed
@@19.-ke2ld On it! Though I don't dress much like THIS at all, big enthusiast of 1860s and 70s looks.. (That is - wider sleeves than this era, shorter collars and thinner ties). especially sack and ditto suits. If you've seen Edouard Manet or John Wilkes Booth you've seen ideals of how I dress. Agree with you though, saving up for a frock coat from Darcy Clothing at the minute, if we all started dressing like the 1840s instead of c.1865 I have no complaints!
Those days were quite quite elegant! This is the fashion of Dickens' Great Expectations. I can only think of Pip and Herberth Pocket and Edgard Allan Poe.
It blows my mind that people used to pay Beau Brummel to watch him dress in the morning - he was just that much of a "tastemaker/icon"! :D This guy 100% reminds me of Mr Elliot, the proud Baronet in 'Persuasion' :D x
@@priorattire Have you got any plans for men's 1860s looks? Would love to see some sack suits or something reminiscent of John Wilkes Booth, Edouard Manet or the Prince of Wales as fashionable examples (Not to mention Dickens!)
Wow, I had never thought of men's stays before, it makes sense providing how close garments were fitted to the body in that period...a little help never hurts..
Absolutely beautiful, thank you for keeping the traditional dress of England alive. This is almost identical to my Victorian outfit of which I have worn a few times.
I'm all the regency books I've read, the hero didn't have to wear a corset like dear Prinny. He also had many capes and his cravat was always folded in a complicated style but impeccable taste.
