Nice job here Gord... The ever important crown as many of your subs have noticed is the cherry on top after all your efforts. I too have struggled with my 84" Landpride blade over the years. Typically I use my bucket, cutting into it & backblading to shape it. I too get off the tractor & pick the debris out moving along. My final work is using the 3PH rake, pulling it back to the middle, creating the crown. A finish land-plane would be an excellent implement to use on my steep 350 ft. d/way. Currently my new trailer mover is hooked up for pulling large trees & their respective tops out of the woods... Once again, another excellent video presentation. Bill on the Hill, Vermont, USA... :~)

The crown will really help direct the water away from the center of the road. Great job GP.

Hi JP i did exactly the same thing as you did last fall for almost 1.5km of road on my wood lot. I have a steep hill and it proved very efficient when the snow melted in the spring and also when we got a lot of rain this summer. Congrats for the super job

Awesome job GP. You now have a Super Highway for a drive. Putting the crown in the road was the right idea. Here in the States the Old Timer highway department new this and boy could they fix a road that seem to hold up well. Today we don't have to many dirt roads in the Counties. But the ones that we do have don't hold up at all. Mainly because the younger generations don't know how to grade a road. I think your finished job is gonna last a while GP. Cheers buddy.

The old Kingfisher went back to the water to be out of your road ;-) so you could go out and play in it for a while. lol You did a good job with the tools fixing your driveway . Now if you could get a load of crushed rock from Guy's quarry to use in your ditch so you could have a bottom in them incase anyone ends up stuck. Crown roads with mud under the snow and ice ???? Man, that turned out looking real good Gord, nice crown developed and built up... Sadly to say, the old adage of folks saying "digging ditches for a living" stands true... If a man wants ditches, he's gotta dig them... Maybe you can eventually get your hands on a mini excavator or a back hoe attachment one day and actually do some diggin' where you need to, for now, I think that crowning will help tremendously. Good work!👍 P.S. Just don't dig 'em too deep. Up your way, with snow and ice, if you slide into them you gotta get out of 'em.😉...lol...😆

That plane mixed the organic material with the stone and did a great job on you’re drive.

How's she goin'? Great set up with the back blade and then you finished it off to perfection with the Land Plain!!! Great looking job and with the crown the water should shed a lot better and go where you want it to !!!

Great job GP. I can tell you that the Council graded our road about a month ago with a grader machine, its much better without the potholes but it looks nowhere as good as what you just did.

Wow did that ever turn out great! I’ll be trying some of these tricks on the driveway at my parents cottage. It’s a big long hill so it always needs attention

Well I tell ya..we have boulders and tree roots at the edge of ours to deal with as well. Very nice outcome GP. Lacking a land plane, most times once we turn in the edges the last run will either in reverse or or the rear blade turned backwards to knock the top off. At any rate, your job turned out better than mine does most times. I'm duly impressed sir...and as always a very nicely done video for our morning coffee. Btw, perfect crown. Now if you just had an old 4,000 pound roller...... (-:

Looks like it turned out amazing! We have an x585 john deere super garden tractor, just have a 48inch box blade for now but I want a rear blade next to do exactly that on our hilly trails. The only problem is its very hard to find a good quality 48 or 54 inch rear blade but as soon as I go 60inch then its a better unit. Dont know if the little deere will handle it! Problaby have to wait till i get my Kubota after college is done LOL!

Nice Job, but "Rocks"? You had to walk to pick up a large rock. Here in upstate NY, after picking up a large rock, we only have to bend over to find another. Just the terrain here.

Gary I built a ditcher which attaches to my box blade and it works really good, I can dig down a foot and it makes a V groove with a square bottom. I has tried the rear blade many times and it just takes too long and does not dig up the rocks, Mine will dig up to grapefruit sized rocks bigger ones take a few passes. Real big ones it does skip over them but loosens them enough I can dig them out. Nice work with the rear blade, maybe you and your neighbour can fab up something a bit better, would be a good project for you guys.

The land plane looked like it was doing great. From your video, are the blades on the plane adjustable from front to back or reversed. I have used some planes that has first angled in one direction and rear angled in opposite direction. This configuration seems to spread material in potholes better. If plane has a manual, maybe it explains how to adjust for opposite angles. Good working video as always.

Looking good GP, but I can't help but wonder if you still need a little more crown effect there. Unless the camera shots are deceiving, it still appears a wee bit flat. I would try and pull a little more from the sides and move it to the middle.

Thanks for all the awesome videos, I could never really determine how a rear blade would benifit me in anyway or what to do with it. I am on the fence about buying one. I have a land leveler and box blade and a snow plow, not sure if I could put a rear blade to good use or not

The tilt function on those Land Pride RB16-series blades is very finicky depending on how tight those three nuts are above your locking pin. They didn't use nylok nuts so too loose and the nuts fall off and too tight and you can't tilt the blade. :-) It also has a tendency to get a lot of dirt in there which makes the two surfaces really gritty against each other. On my RB1660 I removed the three nuts and the plate behind it and cleaned and greased the areas that rub together. I also had an issue that the top edge of my blade would make contact with the turntable and prevented me from being able to reinsert the locking pin in the tilt positions. I had to grind two small notches in the top edge of the blade on the left and right side of the turn table to provide clearance for the pin to be reinserted. A bit disappointed in Land Pride on the design but what are you gonna do. :-)

Great video, quick question about your equipment. Where do you store your three point items in the summer and winter in central ontario? You mentioned the equipment dealer a number times in other videos..I see they are near Mono, nice area. It gets cold in that area with snow cover most of the winter. We did look for property up in that area but things did not pan out. So I was curious how you stored the grapple, snow blower and various gravel maintenance equipment for off season.. cheers.

Why do people who are going to do dirt work not have their bucket on? Could have cleaned some of the organics out before shaping the ditch. Also roll the back slope with tractor tires to help keep the in place.

Try rolling the ditch line with the tire also on the back slope think it will a good finish

GP, if you needed a little extra tilt with the blade. You can adjust the right rear lift arm to go between the 7° & 15° blade options. Be careful though, the blade will NOT rotate fully when in tilt position.

I just bought a new land pride rb1672 rear blade , but the tilt feature doesn't work because the blade is stuck and I can't get it to move up and down. It angles easily, but won't tilt at all. How do I loosen it so I can get it to tilt? Please advise.

If I want to add just a basic back blade on my BX 1880 what else do I need to purchase to make it work. Thanks

Now you'll have to spend the big money and buy yourself a motor grader. Lol. Looks good. Boxscraper can do the same but it won't pull so much to the road as it will grab & carry. The bonuses of having a rear blade, land grader and boxscraper. Sometimes one is better than the other one or 2 implements.

And you can use a bobcat fix your driveway
