188-Narrowboat Life Cruising On The River: A Wind Up Adventure
Join us on Narrowboat Dunworkin as we continuously cruise the inland waterways of England and Wales living an off grid lifesyle.
Today we leave Elton where there is an abandoned water powered corn mill and we are soon passing Fothringhay, where an earth mound is now the only reminder of Fothringhay Castle, which was most famously the execution site of Mary Queen of Scots in 1587. King Richard 111 was also born in Fothringhay Castle.
The lakes next to Perio Lock are called Bluebell Lakes and are a carp fishery created following gravel extraction.
Warmington, Perio, and Ashton Locks all have unpowered vertical gates just to ensure we get our daily exercise!
After passing through Lower Barnwell Lock we moor outside the very friendly Oundle Cruising Club.

We are Patrick and Eileen. In 2018 we decided to quit the rat race by giving up our jobs and selling our home to buy a narrowboat to continuously cruise the inland waterways of the UK. We bought a 57 foot Bickerstaffe boat which we named Dunworkin.
This is a record of our journey, Our Narrowboat Quest to explore the navigable waterways of England and Wales, to continuously cruise throughout the year. Join us as we experience all seasons, the wonders of our beautiful countryside, towns, villages and cities and even our industrial heritage, nowadays an ironic contrast to its raison d'être.
We love creating our videos and sharing them on RU-vid, so please feel free to share with your friends and family if you think they may be interested in our journey.
We have self funded our RU-vid channel
for the last 6 years. We film and edit our channel using editing software for which we pay an annual subscription and in order to keep the music fresh we pay a monthly subscription to Epidemic sounds.
So far we have self funded all of the camera and audio equipment required.
However as we are on a limited budget any contribution towards these costs would be greatly appreciated.
