Paid $2500.00 CAD in 2020. Although the brass plates are engraved. I would never attach a sling to the rifle like the one you have however, each to their own. Love the video 👍

Thanks very much! I imagine the engraved model is beautiful. Mine is more for the historic feel and such. Love shooting these things

This is going to be hard to explain without making a video… but I’ll give it a shot… “RELOADING” - withe the rifle on your shoulder and you fire your last shot… keeping the rifle in your right hand lower it to your hip while rolling it clockwise upside down. Place the action against your hip and with your left hand, slide the follower to the muzzle and twist it open. Holding the rifle this way it will provide you a kind of a loading guide/tray created by the muzzle extension and will keep the rifle at an angle that allows the cartridges to slide down the tube without having to push them or having them slamming into each other… Use your left hand to load. When finished loading your last round, your left hand should be in a perfect position to engage the follower and twist the barrel extension back into alignment… My grandfather taught me this when I was about 9 years old (that was 58yers ago) with my great grandfathers rifle. The first rabbit I ever shot was with an original Henry in .44hrf and my uncle still has that rifle today. Mine is a Henry Repeating Arms company Original in .45 Colt… it’s a beautiful rifle with absolutely gorgeous wood! but the Uberti is closer to the original. The only reason I have a H.R.A.C. Is because it’s “made in the U.S.A… and the wood is gorgeous… I have a love for the Henry, mostly because of childhood memories, but it is something special all by itself.

Thanks for the info! I'll definitely give it a try the next time I have the henry out. And how awesome to have an original in the family! I can't imagine what it's like to hold that rifle and wonder where it's been. Thanks again for the info

I tried to find the company that I purchased it from but couldn't come up with anything! Luckily, there are two or three others that seem to be making decent ones.

@Triple F Shooting Believe it or not, those slings were mostly purchased by civilians because Oliver Winchester wanted an extra $7 for them, and the hardware was notorious for breaking in the field, especially when slung riding mounted. Troops got wise to this, so they would most commonly strip slings off their issued Springfield and Lorenz Rifles and secure them to the front sling loop with leather lace. By the way, did you try my trick to get your Spencer to quit spilling its guts?

Reloading with 44 Henry Rimfire might be a little faster since you could hold the rifle vertical with the butt on the ground while dropping cartridges in the tube.

Anyone got a lead on how to make the mag follower spacer that allows you to avoid the Henry Hop? Diameter, best construction, screw size to stop the spacer from jamming into the elevator? TIA

About 12,000 Henry's were made between 1860-1865

Oliver Winchester purchased the Volcanic Rifle Company, renaming it New Haven Arms. B. Tyler Henry, a gunsmith with Volcanic, stayed on. Winchester charged him with reworking the Volcanic into something that they could sell......thus the Model 1860 Henry.

Yep. Similar to the AK sight leaf going to 1000. The bullet may get there, but accuracy is going to be a problem.

It can be for the user as well! I actually cut my hands on the magazine tube the first couple of times I loaded it!
