The Roosevelt School House located in Indiana Township has been neglected, left to rot and decay. As seen in the video, now a historic structure without a plaque or landmark to signify it's coming or going. This structure will soon be gone without any fanfare or remembrance. A very sad ending for something so old.

Eerie, amazing that it's still standing. I found out that a schoolhouse used to border my family's property in West Virginia. The lot was deeded to the county board of education in 1869 and the school was gone by 1905. So now I am searching RU-vid to try to imagine what the schoolhouse might have looked like. I think it was a small frame structure similar to this 1876 schoolhouse, but unfortunately no photos exist that I know of. Thanks for sharing.

What is your guess at the approximate length and width of this schoolhouse? Trying to figure out if a structure of this size could have been situated on a flat spot bordering my property.

This is actually in Harmar Twp. I grew up in Harmar not far from here in Chaple Downs, A friend of mine and classmate at Harmarville Elementary school that used to be on old Rt 28 next to where St Francis Church is, he live near by on Locust Hill Road, he always claimed the place was haunted. It is sad to to see it left to decay.

Don there is some speculation as to just where this site was / is. It is listed in the Indiana Township History Book, 1994, page 182. But there are no details included. I was in contact with the Indiana TownshipHistorical Commission several times but have as of yet received a response stating just where it was located. So eventhough they list the photo in their history book, they are not commiting to it's exact status. I am including a portion of an 1876 map showing Indiana and Harmar Townships. The darkenen area is the "school house". And, it appears in Indiana Township ....exactly on the boundry line???????
