Congratulations! Great topic as well. The 1890 census has been a thorn in my side for years. My gx2 grandfather was born Jan 1890 and his father died in 1891 so that would have been my confirmation of the relationship. Thankfully I found a will that confirmed…though not for many years after being frustrated. 😂

1892 New York State census. Don't forget to mention that New York skipped the 1885 census but did provide an 1892 census which works quite well. Surprised you did not mention that. Works only in New York but still quite helpful.

Congratulations, Connie! 🎊🎈🍾🎉 Thank you, thank you, thank you! For all your info, your fabulous teaching and tips. You’ve made my personal “journey” so much more accurate than what it could have been! You and Crista both have made me a much better researcher, and have kept me in my own tree, I am grateful. The majority of my “people” were still in Italy in 1890, so I haven’t had that problem. But I’ve learned to use the California voter lists to follow, year by year (so cool!), a lot of family members. Congratulazioni, ciao!! 😄

Congratulations Connie! In your previous video, you mentioned your Scottish connection through your mum. It's funny because I follow you on Patreon, but I don't have any Direct Line ancestors in America, as I am Scottish with a bit of Irish thrown in. I adapt all your tricks to my research in Scotland, so if you do start your research in Scotland, can you do at least one or maybe two videos about how you went about it and any websites you found really handy. I am always recommending you to my friends, so I hope your channel grows exponentially.

Dear Ms. Connie O'Threehund, If YOUR time spent unearthing solutions is added to YOUR time spent creating/distributing videos and handouts, that total, times 300, would be a sum much greater than its parts. Now add to that sum OUR individual search times saved by implementing YOUR advice, and a bottom line time-is-money debt should be logged in YOUR favor. Those 'indebted' to you must say a heartfelt ThankYouThankYou. Congratulations on your 300th and ALL that it represents. Warm regards, Your Happy Debtor

Great show! I find that City Directories are the best source for Genealogy that is not a government record. In most of the larger cities they were issued yearly, smaller cities every other year or less. Mega cities like New York might publish issues for various parts of the city, and would put less information in for people due to the large population. Many directories would do a section that listed people by address helping find those neighbors. I like to look up the company my ancestor worked for to see the type of business & where it was in relation to his home.

Because we're talking about census records. I like the method you use to copy all census data to a excel file. Perhaps with your reputation you could suggest to Ancestry to go one step farther and provide a method to download a csv file that will open in any spreadsheet program just as easily downloading the image of the census. I have emailed and posted to the web site but the women running the Ancestry you tube site just ignores me or the one time she did respond didn't have a clue what I was talking about. Maybe she doesn't even use the software. Other folks agreed with me on the csv download since your method only works when using Chrome (have no idea why) but it does work.

How can we find church records for the US in 1700s - 1800s? Not knowing any churches in an area, IDK how to locate a church an ancestor may have attended, gotten christened in, have their records in, etc. Those records would be golden.
@GenealogyTV
@GenealogyTV Год назад
If you know where they were living, look at old maps (if you can find them) of the area to see any churches within walking or horse ride distance. Another idea is to check the State Archives and local county libraries for the histories.
