Excellent restoration and explanation of the whole job. I have a very similar dial clock which was originally verge with an alarm but it was converted to anchor escapement many years ago and the alarm does not work now.

A very pleasing result. Especially like the remains of the patina on the dial

I love your videos. So many insights on the kind of evaluations you make as to what to do, and what not to do. Something that is neigh on impossible to convey in writing, but perfect for video.

Ta-dahh! Beautiful job, thank you for sharing your work. I think many viewers would appreciate more detailed voiceover descriptions of the steps you are taking in some of the operations (for example, the prep, lubrication, and loading of the mainspring), time permitting.

I think he did cover lubricating the spring but I wanted to rewatch it and haven't found it yet so i can't point you to it.

That's a very nice clock now. How accurate do you find verge escapement clocks to be?

Tommy - when you say you "silvered" the dial, what process is that? Thanks for the vids - very educational sir.
@TommyJobson

It’s a cold chemical plating process. The card link in the video shows a video with more information.

Truly wonderful work. Unfortunately much of what you did is now being hidden. Which is a bit of a shame.

Lovely. Why did you not wax the makers marks on the dial? Or was that not done originally.
@TommyJobson
@TommyJobson Год назад
It was waxed, I only did localised repairs to the waxing, I didn’t redo the whole dial.

Very good episode, but I would keep this patina on the dial. After all, this is not a new clock. Sorry, but I do. Kind regards
