My name is Tommy Jobson and I am a horologist (clockmaker). I offer a complete bespoke clock making service based in rural Shropshire (UK). I design clocks around my client's input and ideas and manufacture by hand using mainly traditional methods. I also offer a comprehensive repair and restoration service for clocks and watches. This channel is aimed at giving a fly on the wall view of me in action.
Hi. Do you use these two different oils (HP-1300 and 9020) throughout the movement (minus the mainsprings)? Do you use any grease? I'm starting clock repair as a hobby and was wondering which oils I should buy that would cover all my needs. So far I have used some generic "clock oil" + "clock grease".
Being who I am, I became very annoyed that I couldn't see what year that top surface was manufactured. But then I remembered that you are British, and is the year the first or last number in the date code? :)
Pete at power capacitors is definitely one of the good guys, he has gone above and beyond in helping me and a friend with issues, and I would recommend him and PC wholeheartedly. Fitting a vfd on a lathe is one of the best additions you can make, on a par to fitting a dro to a mill.
Great job on fitting and hiding the motor. If you ever need to upgrade another lathe motor, I would recommend using a servo motor. Servos don't need inverters because they have max torque at 0 RPM...max torque at all RPMs. Many other benefits of using a servo.
Nice job Tommy I do like Pultra lathes , I fitted a jack industrial sewing machine motor under bench and converted it to potentiometer on my 17/70 and on my Pultra P type torque is amazing even running slow, both 10mm although the P type has 8mm tailstock

Completly fastenating! Hope youll make your deadline and safe passages overseas! Im hoping to find a Hamilton chronometer just because I like complicated things. My dad had a racing pidgeon timer in a beautiful wooden box and as a boy was bemused by it. Then my dad sold it and I never saw it again. I have sailors blood so think I need a chronometer. Thank you for sharing, most greatful! Bye!😅

You said "pegging" is important, what does it do to the brass pivot holes? Otherwise very interesting video and thank you for bringing your skill to the world out here and there
