Rutgers been pretty decent / “trap game” type team, ever since Greg schiano became HC 💯

Rutgers is no slouch. I didn't understand the 20 pt favorite odds going in. They've really been playing good football and have upgraded the roster in a major way since Schiano's return. We found a way to win. All that matters. We need to clean some things up on both sides of the ball but it was a gritty, ugly, win. Proud of this team. Go Blue!!

They went cold in the second half, thank God for the defence making plays when we absolutely needed them to. Go Blue!

Yep, no bullying Rutgers this season. You gonna have to earn that "easy" W on them. Also for all the people just saying that Michigan sucks and basically discrediting that ALMIGHTY Rutgers defense need to show some more respect for Rutgers as a team this season. The Michigan offense still has some problems with 3 & outs and kept Rutgers in it. You’re not gonna beat great teams if you can’t pass the football

As a die hard Michigan fan I give KUDOS to Rutgers for a hard fought game. They really made it gut wrenching, and exciting. Michigan hit a dead spot, and Rutgers capitalized. A victory none the less, and I see Rutgers being a thorn in other Big Ten teams. Hopefully they will knock off MSU, PENN, and OSU. M GO BLUE way to hang in there.

Michigan got shut down 3rd and 4th quarter they are going to have to get that passing game going

We didn’t turn the ball over not a lot of penalties defense only allowed 1 touchdown and stepped up when the offense was struggling. I’m not to mad. Good dub. I trust the new staff to make adjustments and be ready for next week.

I got brought back down to reality with this game. Michigan's offense isn't as good as I thought, but I still give credit to the defense. For as much as the offense kept them on the field in the second half, they did a hell of a job. They bent a little bit, but they didn't break.

Whoa if you look at the stats it’s a mystery how Michigan won. They had fewer passing yards, fewer rushing yards, fewer first downs, more punts, worse 3rd down conversion. Rutgers was 1/4 for 4th down conversions though so that probably cost them the field position game and allowed Michigan to win with fewer yards to go.

Couldn't finish the 4th quarter. Wasn't fun at all I remember why we don't want Harbaugh and why I wanted JJ in week 2.

Rutgers is becoming an Indiana and Northwestern-like "trap team". They played amazing football in the second half and have a good future ahead of them. I'm glad Michigan survived, but if we're going to do anything this year, playing like we did in the second half isn't going to do it. Props to our defense for stepping up when our offense couldn't. Big Michigan fan here, i have to admit we got bad calls our way again at home.... we should of lost. All our games are at Home and Rutgers isnt that good we are going to get spanked again by Ohio State and any team with a heartbeat same old Michigan

Rutgers is a legitimate big ten team now. They’re not the team we beat 78-0 five years ago. They looked good. They will no doubt upset some higher ranked teams this year.

I think the talk about not passing enough needs to stop. 2 years ago that’s what got us into playing outside our identity. We have at least 3 really good RBs. Maybe one of the best backfields in the nation. O line is big and strong, good TEs. We should be running the ball a lot. That’s probably why we are 4-0. I hope we don’t try to force the pass next week at Wisconsin. Just have a good balance of runs inside and outside and the occasional play action.

At least they played better against them winning in overtime last year. Rutgers is a better team than people will give credit for. Obviously Michigan has things to work on offensively but next week against Wisconsin will have to be more effective in second half. Lot of factors i think the team might of been coasting mode knowing they have a good lead at the half. Definitely it brings questions to Michigans passing attack and the loss of Bell is being felt. And even your great teams have a couple lackluster wins but they are wins. Good example Michigan was struggling in 1977 with a close win over Navy 14 to 7 and played texas A M ranked number 5. Probably one of the greatest lopsided wins by Bo 41 to 3 and was set by a super defense. Today Michigans defense won it for them. That is a good sign. So i wouldnt grimace too much about this one even if it was going be wipeout win Wisconsin is next and irregardless of being 4 an 0 which is pretty good i would say the season will be defined in Madison as to where they stand. It will be very difficult for any team in the Big Ten to go undefeated.

Cade must have been seeing double after getting that targeting hit… he was throwing strikes in the first half and just missed everything in the second.

Honestly Michigan issues have always been qb play. They are not strong in that department. They have everything else just qb play is killing them every season

The first half looked like Michigan was going to run away with the game. Rutgers fought back well, but made too many mistakes. Greg Schiano has this team on the upswing. I'm really curious to see how Rutgers progresses over the next 2-3 years. They currently have a top 20 recruiting class for 2022.

this doesn’t prove that Michigan is overrated, just proves that Rutgers can put up a fight and play some decent football

That wasn't an inspiring win. Rutgers won almost every statistical category and still lost. Rutgers really deserved better yesterday. The late fumble sealed the win when Rutgers had all the momentum. Coach em up Jim.. next week will be very tough.

People who are surprised by Rutgers don't watch college football. They just watch Michigan football.

Rutgers really putting something together. Still one of the weaker programs in the conference, but they’re building something.

Offense just needs more creativity, especially the run. If the o-line can't make holes then take it outside, we have the speed to do it. We could have burned them on the outside

In the first half, the O-line had a push. In the 2nd they got pushed. That is not a good sign. Are they tired from the early few games or did Rutgers adust? Time will tell.

Michigan has a lot of good young pieces on both offense and defense. It is clear to me after watching this game that McNamara place holder. A few weeks ago I thought he was a place holder for a better version of himself. After watching this game he is missing open receivers, being hesitant and late with his throws. McCarthy must not be ready to play, because it seems clear to me that the staff has defaulted to a power running game because they don't believe he can manage a more balanced attack....

The defensive line took a vacation in this game, the offensive line took some plays off to relax, the secondary missed so many tackles, I thought they were playing touch football. EVEN vedral ran through to pick up 1st down after 1st down. Yeah rutgers EXPOSED THE USUAL WEAKNESSES. Shiano would out coach hairball every time if the teams were equally talented.

Way go Harbaugh like I said your supposed to use those games at the beginning of the year to work on thing not run the ball every play you could barely beat Rutgers

2021 Rutgers may be better than how they were in the years past, but nearly squeaking by them is not a great sign. The high school-esque offense featuring heavy runs will be Michigan’s demise against much tougher opponents next week and weeks to come.

Nothing fancy with the passing game yet, and it is still not a great defense, but better. Will not win big games with all those field goals. Watching highlights can be deceiving, but where was U of M offense in the second half.

Truth be Told: The Michigan Defense melted down almost as equally as the Offense in the 2nd half.

5:43. #2 on defense took an absolutely TERRIBLE angle! IF I was a coach I would lose my mind over stuff like this!!! He should be forcing the runner back inside no matter what AND he can also clearly see that he has 3 other defenders coming from inside help so he should take an even wider angle to keep the ball carrier inside but instead he squares up on him and let’s the runner beat him outside.

What’s the point of recruiting a 5 star QB and leaving him on the bench when you don’t trust your starting QB enough to pass the ball more? I’m not trying to hate on Cade but it seems obvious Harbaugh doesn’t trust him or believe in him enough to pass the ball more. It feels like the offense you run when your QB gets injured mid game and the backup isn’t well prepared so you focus on the run and simple passing concepts bcz you gotta play safe. Except our starting QB isn’t injured…

Michigan at Wisconsin next Saturday! This could be Wisconsin win, granted Wisconsin lost to Notre Dame badly today.

I still say that Michigan will lose at very least four to five games this year. The same problems this year that have been evident in years past. Secondary is swiss cheese. Run defense can't defend against a decent RPO offense. QB's forgets how to throw as soon as there is pressure on them to preform. Running game grinds to a halt when playing against a team with a coaching staff that know how to make adjustments. In years past I would have said "well they have plenty of time to fix the problems". I no longer have have that kind of naive faith. Unless we get blessed with the teams tougher opponents getting injuries to key players. Then the forecast for this season is again... Pain. I pray that I'm wrong, But nearly 20 years of pain has taught me to look forward to basketball season already.

McNamara looked like a deer in the headlights today. The look on his face was not a confident one. I knew Michigan would go from 365 yards rushing a game to about 175-200 against good teams but, this! against Rutgers ! 112 yrds and mostly in the first half! It got to the point where we could not make a first down or stop anyone on defense. Ross being out hurt but, come on!! Embarrassing is what it was. We can't even make a game sealing FG. I knew Moody had a chance to miss it because I have had zero confidence in our kicking game for about a decade now. I cannot see how this team, as it stands now ,could ever beat Wisc, Mich St.,Penn St., Maryland or Ohio St. Wisconsin's quarterback looked horrible today. If you ask me both Michigan and Wisconsin should start new quarterbacks next week. And what the heck happened to our offensive line and their run blocking? Zero second half points. I stopped going to the games because I'm not going to spend my hard earned money on something that has been broken for a long time. Michigan's defense is good but the offense needs a lot of work. Rutgers played a tough game though.

The comment section is toxic as hell as always. I only criticize cade on missing the TE in the red zone and the seam route in the 3rd quarter. There was obviously passing in first half I am not worried about plus cade managed the game very well NO TURN OVERS!! Harbaugh went completely conservative in the 2nd half HB DIVE HB DIVE HB BETWEEN the only stretch play and outside run came in the 4 quarter in the last five mins which went 9 yards.

Mich offense good in first half, but second half had no variety. Their defense was ok but dont tackle well. Defensive backs still dont look for the football. It's the same old story under Harbaugh.

Michigan looks better than they have in the last few years. _......but only 'just'._ Personally, I don't think the millions paid to Jim Harbaugh is paying off, but so much of that depends on the Michigan 'higher ups' doing what's needed to recruit the best players. As long as they beat ohio state this year? _I'll consider it a good year._
