Music indeed. I admit I didn't expect to like the AWE. But I love it. Cold start? Delicious. Idle? Delicious. Under load below 3k RPM? Delicious, and notably better than stock IMO. WOT and > 3k? HOLY. BALLS. My previous favorite on the platform was Corsa touring, but man...this one is insane. The 6.2L doesn't make it easy for exhaust tuners, but this system is flat-out amazing. And those great tips are perfect for the car and will be noticeably easier to keep looking happy. Kudos!
For me as a kid growing up being a fighter pilot was my dream job. My old man was a F-15 mechanic and went over to the F-22 program in 1996 and I quickly became obsessed with aviation. I stayed on my grind all through high school following his advice to keep my grades up so that I could get into college and get my bachelor's in military science and engineering as a starting point. After getting my associate's I enlisted in 2010 and unfortunately was discharged due to health issues in 2013. Since then I honestly thought I was crazy for using motorsports and time attack events to fill the void and be my way of getting the adrenaline rush since I didnt make my initial goal in life. Seeing the ZR1 content on this channel along side the fighter pilot content reassures me that I am not crazy for trying to bridge the gap between aviation and motorsports. I've even goes as far as choosing cars with a driver oriented cockpit because of the obsession. I almost bought an NSX because they said the interior was designed based on an F-16 cockpit but decided to go with the Supra because the NSX just didnt have the potential or enough power. Love the content keep up the good work!
Personally,I'm a big fan of the Corsa Extreme exhaust. Awesome car C.W. I enjoy your pilot content and the fact you were a military pilot. Thank you for your service!
I used to drive a 1993 Mazda RX-7 in the 90s because it gave me the feeling of being the aviator I always wanted to be. It had an amazing Greddy Trust catback that had a deep purr to it that got many compliments. Now I own a 2016 Subaru WRX because I live in Ohio instead of Texas. I actually think the stock exhaust of the WRX sounds really good and the only reason I'd replace it is if I decide to tune the car to run E85.
Looks great, sounds great but Chevy really screwed up the wing on this gen zr1. It just doesn’t look like it came on the car like the c6’s did. Looking aftermarket isn’t the problem, really. It’s that it was poorly done. Enjoy the car man...she’s a beast!
When the ZR1 first came out, I wasn’t a huge fan of the aero. But after seeing it in person, I love it. Looks great and it’s the most functional aero (pushing 1000lbs of downforce) GM has ever used.
Great video Mover! Did you see the second top gun trailer yet? I would love to see your reaction, (especially when the super hornet performs a cobra maneuver) don’t worry I cringed too. 😁
Oh god how much I miss driving my zr1 it’s exactly like yours except I got mine with yellow calipers and yellow stitched interior, I put it up till spring due to Michigan weather, already salt all over the roads and getting little bit of snow ❄️ with below 30 temperature
It does sound good. My first reaction being it sounds like track mode (engine sound management - track) although it has a deeper, lower octave tone to it. I like it! Oh, and the big :D says it all. :)
Two snaps in a Z formation, Mover! (see what I did there? :) I like the throatier sound of the AWE exhaust. But both are music to my ear. It's also the reason why I don't think I could own an electric vehicle. Sure, off the line the instant torque wins, but the sound, the growl of a V8... It does bring a smile to ones face. :)
C.W. as a former Naval Aviator, what is your opinion of the 'Midway' film that is out in theaters currently? Have you seen it? I'm very curious as to your opinion and experience regarding if a similar type naval battle could ever happen in today's world. Could carrier pilots ever get into a battle where the entire battle is a naval battle, or are those days of WWII type combat long gone? If you would be willing to address this question (even if you don't see the film) I'm sure many of us would appreciate your insight. Thank you!
I’m waiting on my AWE X Pipe to come in to install the Touring Exhaust on my C7. Why didn’t you get the X Pipe? It really opens it up and sounds better. BTW AWE is manufacturing their last X Pipes due to BS EPA regulation. Get one now if you can....soon they will be gone forever. I know of a distributor that bought all of AWE’s last batch of X Pipes. Let me know if interested.
C.W. Lemoine Nice work!!! Did you happen to do a dyno before the x pipe and exhaust as a baseline? I’m looking forward to the upgrade. I have the Exhaust in a box in my garage. Just waiting on the X pipe.
Love all these vids this car is just smiles per gallon 😊 and I love watching you drive it bc I love corvettes too so these vids make my days #ThanksMover
If you ever look into getting some go faster stuff done to it, check out Race Proven Motorsports! They made 1000 HP to the tires on pump gas! Also that Ford GT is sex on wheels, my favorite car of all time!
i hope you got that for free or are doing this FOR THEM...the. stock exhausts on cars like that are really integrated and the valve feature is absolutely fccn awesome to be able to control your exhaust from your car.....
Just a warning for those buying a product from AWE if you need to return a item they charge a 20% restocking fee. I bought touring model decided to go another route tried stopping shipment item shipped they said sorry to late pay 20% restocking fee over $ 300.00 ridiculous for a box never opened
Gosh nice car, nice man you are. loved watching your videos. I've not such a powerful car, but I do have a beautiful looking car, a Peugeot 1 6 200hp rcz. If you not seen one ? look them up they beautiful to look at. Thankyou again love chrissie from England xx
Do you also get more performance with the new exhaust? And have you considered chassis (Undercarriage) treatment? It's a good sounding exhaust! Really cool auto shop too
@@CWLemoine I'm not 100% what you call it in America, but it's a layer that prevents rust from salt, water etc. Probably not that common if you don't have much snow, and therefore road salt
Sorry I think the stock exhaust sounds better, Not digging the different pitch; volume wise I think both systems have the same volume not very noticeable difference. I'd leave it stock.
Sounds better to me, not the braatt/harshness of the stock exhaust. Idle is tons better. Does being involved with LE affect your driving style? ( I'll bet you exceeded the speed limit a time or two during this video!)
@@rebelyell22 it's about $5k to tune the ECM on the ZR1 and it throws the powertrain warranty out the window. This sounds awesome while not getting into that, which I like.
Ok, so when can I expect you to come clean all of the sticky mess under my chair? Sure was good seeing the Mandeville, Madisonville area again. I have a friend that lives in your neck of the woods and I grew up in Lake Charles area. Been to your neck of the woods many a time.
