Narrowboat Life- The Gates that Time Forgot?
Join us on Narrowboat Dunworkin as we continuously cruise the Inland Waterways of England and Wales. Living off grid.
We continue our journey south on the North Oxford Canal. Leaving our mooring at Newbold we take a short cruise to Rugby where we pick up water and bag the last one day mooring!
We continue towards Hillmorton, the locks here were originally 3 single locks, however in 1840 they were doubled to cater for the increase in traffic. In 1842 the number of vessels passing through the locks was recorded as 20,859!
Each lock was supplied with large cast iron gates as opposed to the more usual timber gates. Lock 2 is the only lock which retains the now rare cast iron gates and are designated as Grade ll listed. We go looking for the second set of cast iron gates, now lying forgotten and overgrown.
We moor above the top lock.
We have self funded our RU-vid channel
for the last 6 years. We film and edit our channel using editing software for which we pay an annual subscription and in order to keep the music fresh we pay a monthly subscription to Epidemic sounds.
So far we have self funded all of the camera and audio equipment required.
However as we are on a limited budget any contribution towards these costs would be greatly appreciated.
Subscribing to our channel is free but for those wishing to support our channel you can now do so on Patreon at -:
