Yeah no doubt. You should look up some photos of the inside of the first commercial plane. Wicker seats basically just sitting on a floor. There were definitely extraordinarily brave people to fly back then. Now your chances of being in a crash in a commercial jet are about 1 in 12 million each time you fly, and that number doesn't increase the more you fly
Amazing early tech. It seems so odd to us today to NOT spin the shaft and place the load on the shaft end. They made the shaft solid to the plane, built the engine to spin around the shaft, and bolted the prop to the motor! Stunning...I am impressed. I wonder what modern comparisons with today's monitoring equipment would reveal...which way delivered more hp/torque to the prop?n We could maybe change the airplane engine design?
