Track 1, "War In", is the first strophe and refrain of the WW1 song "Your King and Country Want You", sung by Helen Clark. Track 6, "Hanging on the Barbed Wire" is a British WW1 war song, actually titled "Hanging on the Old Barbed Wire". Track 11, "War Out", is the WW1 song "Pack Up Your Troubles in Your Old Kit-Bag", sung by Reinald Werrenrath as "Edward Hamilton". Track 9 opens with an audio excerpt taken from the 1979 TV movie version of "All Quiet on the Western Front", and track 10 opens with one taken from the 1930 movie version.

The music is beautiful, and the subject matter is positively haunting and gut-wrenching. I highly recommend everyone experience "All Quiet on the Western Front", either by reading the book or by watching the film (which is the source of many of the sound samples heard on this album). This album musically brings forth the raw terror and emotion of this dark chapter of our history in a fantastic way.
Definitely Not Randy Mack I had the opportunity to discover this album not long after visiting the site of the Meuse-Argonne Offensive as well as some WWI cemeteries. The album is wonderful and helps understand the atrocities of the war and what it did.
Two weeks ago or so i read your comment recommending "All Quiet on the Western Front" by Remarque and i decided to order the book online, god damn it its a very good book and a very fucking sad one. Thank you for mentioning the book, i am really glad i read it.

I'd prefer progressive death/doom but I literally can't think of a single example for this. And I mean true doom metal elements like My dying bride and Shape of despair, not boring Candlemass old crap
Best black metal album ever since enthroned darkness triumphant. The simple riffs made the best Melodies I ever heard, and I listen metal for 30 years and these guys are just blowing hears apart. Great band and overwhelming surprise for the black metal scene, although the musicians are very not new to this music genre, but in my opinion they are the best I've heard for a long time. My cumpliments to the band because they are fucking awasame
I just have the privilege to know this amazing Ukrainian band today (27-02-2022). How ironical and haunting it is... that f...ing war is nowadays and again reality in Europe. Unbelievable... Stay STRONG and UNITED UKRAINIAN BROTHERS AND SISTERS !!... I hope all this madness and lunacy from disgusting tyrants and imperialists will end soon. Imposters and sadists will fail! And you will prevail!!
Я не є шанувальником, а тим паче знавцем такої музики та мені здається що альбом дуже фаршевий. І не тільки через майстерність музикантів і професійність студійної команди яка робила запис і зведення. Мене, насамперед, зачіпила саме музична основа їх творів: всі фрагменти пісень, як то вступ, куплет, приспів, якісь інтерлюдії, прикінцеві завершення, зрозумілі і доречні. Вже прослухав альбом 2 рази, а там де 2 там і 3... Повага вам пацани, творіть!!!
Wonderful album! I really appreciate the enunciation, so that I can experience the lyrical journey. Some vocalists have to sacrifice enunciation for good sound, but this guy has both nailed down remarkably strong.
Which is quoted word-for-word from the English translation of the novel. It's truly upsetting to think about, isn't it? The realization that when young people go to war and kill others, their supposed "enemies" are, for the most part, just ordinary people like them! People with hopes and dreams, and innocent people who loved them and who will be devastated by their loss. Really makes you think about the very nature of war, and how people justify it to themselves. If only the Great War really could have been the "War to end all Wars". We never learn, do we?
The inclusion of the movie quote during the last song just really takes this album from something great to something legendary. Actually makes it difficult for me not to cry listening to it. Amazing album. Also slava ukraini.
Funny thing about the 11.11. on 11:11 in Cologne, the Karnevall begins. Which is a festive time. Even tho the actuall parade is in the end of febuary... People from Cologne are weird.

It's crazy to listening this album in those days while we are in the same fuck as closely 100 years ago. This is the darkest era in our history and not because of war but stupidity. Will the humanity change ever?
I suppose 1914 is as important and ominous in Ukraine as 2014. So, the album title is really meaningful, and not only a historical reminder for the First World war. A good album. Greetings from Bulgaria.
not the theme of this band - 1914 is only about WW1 period, but try another ukrainian BM - Khors, they have a few pieces about red terror in their latest LP. Also Drudkh, but you probably already know about them
I wonder how you could really know what the intensity and atrocity of that war was like, taking into account that you were never there; People constantly confuse their own fantasy interpretation of terrible events with the real facts of a war of Dantesque proportions; No, you can't know what it really was unless you are "there", and that is how our mind deceives its own person a thousand times; The album is great, yes...

This Album feels so much more powerful to listen to in this current situation... since 1914 are from ukraine as well. War should not have happened ever again
The ending of this album is absolutely phenomenal. The whole song is an adventure, but those closing lyrics with that riff… “One helmet for the two of us Thank your lucky stars one of us is dead So you can wear it all alone So you can wear it And die Alone” Chilling.

Bought both their albums. Love the haunting/eeriness of their music and subject matter. Been looking up new bands and I've gotten pretty lucky thus far, stumbled across these guys and a few other bands. Usually I can go a day or two without finding something I like.
I Listen to Black Metal and I listen to Death Metal, but ive never tried Blackened Death Metal... Really sick mixture, I love it, Metal at his best! ImI
