This is one of my favorites of Jay's collection. I love the implementation of the twin turbos on the 3 liter engine. It's got to be so much fun to drive with the horsepower and the driveshaft twisting torque. I love this car.

That is so lovely! reminds me of the twin SU's on my '64 Austin Westminster 3.0L straight six - however, this Bentley is just so much awesomer than what I had the fortune to drive in 1983. Blast from the past hey - and I count you lucky as well as deserving in being able to preserve motorhead history. Thx J!

My family has restored chrome parts on cars and other things for over 80 years. We have done what is valued cheep or expensive to the market. I do not care about the cost of the end product but how much it means to them. I know Jays cars are worth a lot but when you see his face when he talks about his cars you know this is a person who loves the art and not the market value.

+Gvfdsg Gfdgdf If your idea of art is not a functional thing. What is acting, buildings or anything that is not hung up for people to view or behind ropes letting you feel that it is important. If this is not art form to you OK. But for a lot people that understand the work and thought put into a car like this know it is art. If all you can not understand about my email this is your personal hang up and this is a free world. But if your trying to make me think Jay does not love these cars and is trying to fake us with these posts you have not enough experience with this industry or other people's idea of art.

Paint is not what makes it art but the way it is made. The lines the shape and If you have any idea the time spent crafting it. Give your head a shake if you think you can judge what one person thinks is art. If you can not understand that art is to the eye of the beholder not governed by pig headed people telling you what it should be. There is a old book you should read called Emperor new clothes.

I'm not sure why you would say that. With the amount of mechanical talent of the men working in Jay's garage, and Jay's ability to afford the very best, he would not be using a Fram filter unless that damn thing was doing a proper job of it. I think if anyone knows whether a car part works, it's Jay. As far as I'm concerned, having Jay use it on his vehicles is like a seal of approval. He is simply *not* going to use a crap part on one of his carefully and expensively restored vehicles.

@John Buick Fram's been around since the 1930's. It's ludicrous to think Jay would use a crap filter in order to save $5 on a car that probably cost $100,000 to restore.

I remember seeing Jay at the Rock Store about 14 years ago in this thing. He rolls up, and gets out and starts undoing the bonnet straps. Walking up to it, I see the row of electric fans under the right frame rail underneath the motor. I ask him, "What are those for?," and he replies, "It's the only way I can keep the twin turbochargers cool!" That's the kind of guy he is. What a motorhead!

I never had a like (heck, even knew much about them) for these early Bentley's prior to seeing Jay's (on here, not irl i'm afraid) but am well and truly in love! I'm a petrol head no doubt, but im a steam man at heart, these old cars are so much more like a steam engine that today's, maybe why i love them so much!

I think this is my favorite of Jay's cars, with the possible exception of the '89 Bentley Turbo R. Some transmissions, even if they aren't designed for it like this one is, are easier to shift without the clutch. Used to drive an '80s International truck that hated to be double-clutched (Roadranger 9-speed, non-synchromesh) but would shift just fine if you kept your foot off the clutch. That was the same time I had an '81 Toyota Corolla 2 door sedan- front engine, rear drive. Only used the clutch for starting with that car. 400,000 miles of neglect and abuse when I got it, tried to beat it to death for two years and couldn't do it- it just sucked it up and begged for more.

Their race filters are okay (that was what it had), but avoid their regular filters like the plague they are. Horrid things. The best filter I found is Toyota. lots of media crammed into those. US made Purolator, Champion labs (AC Delco, Warner, STP, and other low cost filters) and Wix before a Fram. Wix is overpriced though. Fram is overpriced and the worst design out there.

Wow, what a machine. I don't have a problem with the necessary modern upgrades but I really flinched when I saw the plastic brake reservoirs. Stuck out like a (cheap) sore thumb. Nickel plated brass with Pyrex bowls would look classy.

A work of art, no doubt! Personal preference , but I would trust the screen door wire about as much as I would Fram filters. Once again though, a true work of art both in it's day as well as now. I think Bentley would be very pleased.

Love it I see old Bentleys quite often in the summer going to and from shows over here in the UK but that has to be the best one ever I do not understand this thing people have about keeping everything stock if you can make something go or stop better then I see nothing wrong with that as long as you hang on to all of the old parts so that if you want to put it all back to haw it was that is all that matters to me.

yes he almost always wears his denim tuxedo, except I recall one episode where he purposefully dresses like the guy that does appraisals that he has on the show from time to time, and in turn the man giving the appraisal rocks the denim tuxedo lol

Jay if the MG guys are going to be upset about the modified ‘52 TD with the Chevy engine, how much gas do you receive for the modified Bentley? As an original ‘52 TD owner with a whole 52 HP, the mod was a wonderful use of a parts MG. Happy to watch your videos, wish I had the money for the handmade Offy powered midget. I love the sound of an Offenhauser. Thanks.

All your cars from this era have a spare tire mounted on the side near where an A pillar would sort of be, my question is if you get a flat is there a jack and tire iron onboard as well? I think many people would like to see how you would go about changing a flat on these types of cars. Yes I love cars so that much that I'm even curious about such a mundane detail!

Amazing car, but oh no !! A Fram filter. Interesting about the oil though. Redline 20w50 is great oil. I use it for my motorcycle, it's one of the only 100% eater based synthetic
