Restoration of a 1924 Hamilton 912 Pocket Watch. This watch along with original box & papers was purchased at auction and declared "not working". It was last serviced 80 years ago. Join me on this journey as we discover what is wrong and the need for fire to fix it.
Disclaimer. Love watches, but I have no background in watchmaking or watch repair. My great grandfather was a watchmaker and perhaps the apple didn't fall too far, who knows. I'm a very much a student of horology, learning as I go. All repairs at your own risk etc.

No other horologist I have seen has ever attempted to repair a pallet fork as you did, well done sir!

Thank you. I love to find those dusty vintage watchmaker tools and try out long lost methods. It just had to be a glass spirit lamp and pallet warmer even though my wife thinks I will set the house on fire!

Just came across your channel on the third of July 2024. And to see that I’m the 32 person to subscribe! Let’s see how long it will take for you to get to 100k subscribers?!? Best of luck!

The channel launched on the evening of July 1st with those first 8 videos, I'm not sure what is normal for subscriber growth but 100k sounds extraordinary. I'm just pleased and honored to have 32 subscribers along for the journey and I'm planning to release some lovely new content for you all soon. Thanks for subscribing and commenting.

Great going! The tool for warming the pallet-fork... I need one of those! I try to dial the pallet stone in with a micrometer to get the correct depth, however.. making adjustments by re-heating, how viable is that? I have found shellac contracts slightly when cooling.

I find the pallet fork warmer more stable with heat transfer. You can pick a nice vintage one of these up on ebay, search for "pallet warmer". Thanks for watching and commenting.
