I was remodeling a house here in Cali and some dude with one arm had a similar looking car , it was ford and modified , I would get scared shitless when we would pickup lunch for the crew and he drove one handedhe would step on it and the big V8 he had in it made the cars tail dance a bit , long live David "Steve"

I am so tickled by the idea of a man named David having the nickname Steve

If car is just out of storage, oil drive train as suggested and be sure battery is fully charged. Pages 10,11,12 in the instructions manual state: gear shift in neutral, spark & throttle levers set in proper positions, ignition switch turned on, and I will add that inline fuel pump NOT necessary - vacumn tanks work fine, - Pull choke all the way out, step on starter button, and just as engine starts to fire, push choke back in all the way. Now - adjust spark & throttle levers to proper ignition timing and engine rpm. Works 100% every time on my 1928 Chevrolet.

Interesting to find the spark and throttle levers on the Chevrolet located in opposite positions to the Ford.

The Engine sounds lovely 😊

Pulling on the choke doesn't pump any gas anywhere. It just closes off the air to decrease vacuum loss to increase vacuum, more vacuum draws more gas. But pulling the choke knob doesn't draw gas.

Why all the negative comments? This is a cool car - a piece of history.

Hey mate, Wondering if you're able to provide anymore information about the timing advance control on the steering wheel? How to go about setting it while driving etc. I'm 26 from Australia, I've got a 1925 Chevy Tourer I inherited from my grandfather who unfortunately passed away, We built it ground up all original before he passed but he never got to drive it or teach me about driving it and last thing I want to do is not know fully how to operate the vehicle and ruin it, As you'd imagine being a young fella I'm use to my newer car's but really trying to learn more about it so I can enjoy the Chevy with my children.

It should be left in the advanced position at all times. It is only retarded when crank starting, which I wouldn't recommend until you become more familiar with the car. Improper crank starting can break bones. If you don't have an owners manual I would recommend ordering a reprint, read it carefully and keep reaching out with questions when something doesn't make sense. Go slow with it all, don't use starting fluid and good luck!

You forgot to oil the valve train. Chevrolet was first with overhead valves, just not so much with automatic oiling of the valve train. So, that was one of the first steps in starting the old Chevys.

I thik you need to start it more often and drive it more, so both you and the car will be happier.

He seemed to address/set the controls on a random order, as he encountered them. IRL there was a definite procedure. The fuel pump should be engaged last, for ex., just a few seconds before hitting the starter.

Should've just gone with a smaller small block engine and smaller carburetor. Would've been a whole lot better and still get the slingshots and keep cars spaced out.

Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station fuel pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime :-(

@@McChevy Another big problem is China. PRC also dictates the end of use of all combustion cars worldwide. Chinas boss Darth Xi told all politicians that they wont do any business with underdeveloped countries that still allow CO2 emitting traffic, airplanes or combustion based industry after 2030...I am sure USA and UK also will be forced by China to 100% electric traffic because today no industrialized country can afford sanctions by China.... China also decided that their people wont become older than 65 years to to stop their over aging community....what that means you can imagine. We face a new silent mass murder over there. Lets hope that wont come over too.

No they won’t. Anytime a democrat gets in they always make people believe it’s the end of the internal combustion era until a republican gets back in and legalizes fracking again because he’s not a fcking moron like every democrat and their delusional going green energy plan

This is something I never have figured out when it comes to collectors that want to drive their car. If it's not in a museum then why not go ahead and install a properly matched modern carburetor to the engine so you don't have all these troubles trying to start and then drive?
@JohnnyRebKy
@JohnnyRebKy 2 года назад
Properly matched modern carburetor??? These 1920s 30s cars don’t have Holley and edelbrock carbs you can order and slap on them like 50s and 60s v8 cars do. And the hard starting isn’t because of the carb it’s because they burn the gas out of them before storing away for long periods. It takes awhile to get gas pumped back up to the engine . If they are driven daily or every few days they will crank right up. But when sitting awhile it’s best to cut the fuel off and let engine burn up the fuel in the lines and carb . Next time it’s started it takes awhile to get the gas pumped back up . Especially cars that are gravity fed only . Most these cars didn’t have mechanical or electric fuel pumps
@triggeredmonkey3439
@triggeredmonkey3439 2 года назад
@@JohnnyRebKy The smart-ass introduction to your explanation as to why you cannot fit a modern carburetor to "any" year model engine shows the massive Gap in intelligence between you and I. And I do not feel like explaining it so go back to sleep.
