1929 Ford Model A Roadster Restoration Project

DESCRIPTION
This 1929 Model A Roadster was purchased from a Sydney hot rod enthusiast as an unfinished project. Although the previous owner did a great job replacing the floor and rebuilding the original 4-cylinder engine and gearbox, the rest of the car needed considerable metal work and body work. However, project's potential was obvious and we set about building a traditional style hot rod.
The body was all original, but in poor shape. So the first task was to tidy up the existing metal work and fabricate a new boot lid (the original was cactus). As the car didn't come with guards, these also had to be fabricated from scratch. A custom header and exhaust was also fabricated and ceramic coated. While the body was off the car, the chassis was given a fresh coat of satin black paint.
The candy apple red paint job was the obvious choice for a classic hot rod build. The tuck and roll design incorporated in the black interior also reinforces the classic styling, as does the new reproduction gauge cluster. And what hot rod of this era would be complete without a pair of Stromberg 97's carbies. However, we believe it is the 'worked' original 4-cylinder engine that makes this hot rod stand out from the crowd. The additional power provided by the engine's performance upgrades, and low curb weight, make for surprising performance and a very enjoyable drive.
The finished car has become quite a celebrity having participated in many car shows. It is a a favourite with classic car photographers and pin-up models. It has also been featured in Cruizin Magazine.
