The 1980's cars are very ugly. The 1920's and 1930's large engine cars are beautiful, and the engines are far cooler than anything that came after. Cadillac made a V16.
When Jay stopped the car at the end that guy breathed a huge sigh of relief and then two more after that! I think he was pretty worried about his baby on the road. He loves it for sure.
I really enjoyed this gentleman, very humble considering how much work and effort he put into it. He knows about his car as well, not just random facts the guy is intelligent and knowledgeable. Nice work sir.
As a Packard fan, I'm just in awe of this vehicle. When they opened the side and I seen that motor gleaming just wow! What wonderful work, and dedication to recreate such a vehicle. I myself can not afford a Packard, so I have to live vicariously through others, and this one was a thrill.
You can afford a Packard!! Just not a senior model. A late 30's through 50's junior model is very affordable. I love my 1938 Packard Six Coupe and did not spend a lot to get it.
Whenever I see a fine machine like this, the word "motorcar" immediately pops into my head. A forgotten word that I think goes perfectly with these great old machines. Incredible re-creation!
Jay, you are the coolest most decent dude in the car biz. Thank you so much for using your talents and resources to connect with all of us out here who do our best to keep the love of these machines alive. Us older guys need to help the younger folks get the fever! You are a blessing man, a true blessing.
What a great episode! Jerry is one cool/accomplished man! Had some really rare gigs and knows how to put together a tremendous piece of rolling art! Really nice chemistry in this episode too!
Beautiful work, this guy put heart and soul into a classic build. He made something that will last a long time. The preservation of past and know how of these classics is just awesome. I'd say he assembled a Packard from the parts bin of the world, and not a recreation, but an assembly. The style and look is perfect.
If you ever find yourself near Dayton Ohio I highly recommend visiting the Packard museum. Beautiful cars from all eras + a few Packard aircraft & marine engines. Packard built RR Merlin (P51 Mustang engine) V 2500 v12 (PT109 engine) Liberty V12, even have a Packard built turbine engine. Works of art on wheels, masterful engineering and craftsmanship.
Mr. Jay I am so happy that cars have such a great protector and champion as yourself. This is exactly the era and type of video I like. Thank you Jay Leno for so many happy moments.
Who doesn't love Packards? A show of hands? I see none. Seems everyone loves Packards! Excellent job and thank you for bringing this to light. Black on red and hand made, she's beautiful!
Thank You Mr. Leno for the great videos, and for keeping it free to watch on RU-vid. Most television is unwatchable these days. My son and I always watch your videos together, then get our hands dirty working on our own cars. Passing on the love of everything automotive to a new generation.
Only the finest in luxury apparel for Jay Leno. I'm surprised he doesn't have denim interior in his lesser value cars. The Jeff Dunham Levi gremlin would go great in his collection.
My father is currently making this exact car from all original packard parts. My grandfather once upon the time was the largest packard parts dealer in the western half of the United states. He sadly passed away just over 2 years ago. He sold most of what he had, so sadly we only inherited 2 Packards. This 1929, and a 1953 clipper. RIP Gary Wendell Brinton
Quite liked that bit, at first I thought he was gonna crack a joke but turns out its a real thing never heard of tyre shaving before, would be cool to see it done
@@SnakeyUk08 I have never even heard of a Tyre, a Tire maybe... lol. Just kidding, Like General Patton said, England and America are two nations separated by a common language. 👀
That is so amazing, I had to watch it twice in a row. What a beauty. That takes a skill level I just don't possess. I truly admire those who are that talented. Nice. I watched a documentary on Packard over the weekend.
A true work of art. To his wonderful loving and sweet wife we all day thank you and bless you . With out your kindness and understanding we could not enough this wonderful machine.
Great Build, Jay your a Lucky Guy to get behind the wheel of so many Cool Cars. But if anyone deserves it....Its you. The love of how things work comes through as you talk to the different people.
I love Packards, anything Packard, even the engine placed in the P51!! The Packard Speedster was a fave of mine!! Built a model of the speedster when I was 6... I did a great job on that paint job!! I just LOVE the sound the P51 makes on a high speed flyby!! Thanks for displaying this Gem of history!!
Well, Jay made me realize that I am an old young guy I guess! That is one awesome car with a ageless design. Great show Mr. Leno and thank you for sharing.
I enjoy seeing your collection and your guest's cars. Many of us love the old cars, but so many of them are disappearing into private garages and rarely see the light of day. I know their value and rarity makes many owners reluctant to drive or show them. Thanks Jay for sharing these cars with us.
Jay Leno seems to know everything about every car that was ever made. Here he demonstrates that he knows the wheelbase size of these 90 year old Packard's. Astonishing! As a teenager I bought a 1948 Packard. It was also a straight eight. Loved that car. I only paid $20 for it.
Great job Jay and crew. I never miss an episode. This guy knows his stuff and I do appreciate the home builds. I grew up in Ventura...cool that the body was built there.
What a beauty. He put a lotta love in that build. The no windshield stuff I am use to that on my Sportster. The windscreen helps a whole lot on any ride. Thanks Jay.
I think the beauty would be lost in a cacophony of daily traffic if every car was still made to look beautiful. Classic cars were once just thought of as outdated junkers before time gave us some perspective. It's the contrast between then and now coupled with the rarity of seeing them that really helps us appreciate them now.
I got the feeling that Jay wore this guy out on this ride. He was sitting there panting while Jay looked like he was ready to drive to San Diego in that beautiful car. I get that... Keep motoring Jay !
this is absolutely beautiful. my hat's off to jerry and all those involved in the making of this car. fascinating history of mr. miscevch's as well. thanks Jay for bringing this to youtube!
This guy was so cool, is so nice to see a couple of guys who have perhaps never met before having such a nice conversation about one of their loves. Regardless of peoples like for back to basic youtube videos that Jay has been during COVID 19, I much prefer videos like this one. Look forward to seeing them again.
Very cool! I'm 3 years into a boat tail speedster build myself. It's a custom concept of parts, based off a 31' model A frame, cow and suspension, chopped, and narrowed, stretched hood, hand fabricated body with a buick inline 8 and a ford 5spd tranmission. Hopefully ill have it driveable next year. Then tear it back apart and do the pretty stuff.
An excellent story-I really enjoyed it. I like how you improve parts on the older vehicles to make them more reliable and enjoyable. Keep them coming Jay.
The actual Jesse Vincent Speedster is in Dayton Ohio at Americas Packard Motorcar Museum. It is still shown and driven regularly.....this car looks IDENTICAL
man, the production level on these videos just keeps going up and up... those slow close-ups that pan around a specific part are awesome good job guys push and believe!
