OH! MY GOD! I LOVE THESE! Irving Kaufman and his Brother Jack are Among My Favorite Singers! And were on about every Record Label that was issued in that time, as well as Records reissued from the 1950`s

I Love You So Much hits the spot for me - what a great selection from Irving Kaufman, all very pleasing.

I enjoy very much the hot vocals of Kaufman in “Dixiana”. On the other hand “Can I Help It?” and “I Love You So Much” show him at his naughtiest side 😄 “When” is superb in every way. Selvin sounds in all his magnificent with your restoration! It seems he is playing live for us!

Astonishing clarity! "Mona," with TD's nice spot, and "When" are standouts for me.

What great arrangements they had at that point. And the recording quality was beautiful.

How did they manage such a fine sound quality and balance at the time when they only used one, or perhaps at the most, two mikes? And how could the recording equipment of those days have such a wide frequency range? Certainly not that could be heard on the standard playback machines at home of the time. Fantastic that we are able to reproduce with such high quality with our modern equipment today. If they only have knowed....

Along came Crosby and blew everyone and everything out of the water. I keep coming back to this excellent compilation of yours - and my first vintage 78 was Irving's " Loveable and Sweet " on the " Domino" or "Perfect" label and he's still a favorite - to hear how radically entertainment singing, and American popular culture, were just about to change. I think that Crosby - both his singing and his persona - was the biggest single influence on American popular culture of all time. Think of it. Without him we never would have had a Roman Catholic President, much less one who would refuse to wear a top hat to his Inauguration. And the list goes on.... But meanwhile I am enjoying some time again with good oleIrving - Thank you for posting this compilation ! You're terrific !

I collect Irving Kaufman. He is THE example of what a REAL vocalist is. The greatest voice of all time in my opinion. And yes, he could sing opera if he wanted to.

The KAUFMAN brothers career spaned 30 years, and made transitiin into jazz, unlike many singers of pre1920 or pree WW1 who didnt.

While even in acoustic recording days there were multiple recording horns with consoles using pipe organ stops to balance, SINGLE HORN arrangements were most common. When electric recording came in single mics were common. Engineers of time controlled balance by complicated seating arrangements. Solo singers or instraments near mic. Soft instruments also close. Trumpets & koad further back. Photos of accoustic & early electric recordins (also early radio) show these odd arrangements. A male quartet wouldnt be shoulder to shoulder like in live performance, but lined up one after each other, as an instance.
