Found your channel yesterday and have been binge watching your videos. You are the FREAKING G.O.A.T. when it comes to traditional furniture making in this day and age on RU-vid.

Beautiful craftsmanship. This is the video I saw the Bantam Bully and then ordered it from your info. Thanks so much.

Amazing to watch such a craftsman as you, not just an upholsterer. It is very educational to learn how things are really suppose to be done. The trickery come when finding some of the traditional material you use. Thanks for your videos

Beautifully done. I’d have you do my chair from the 1920’s except I live in Western Canada. You do wonderful work.

It's amazing how therapeutic I find watching restoration work being done. You made that chair look more art deco than it was before, I think. Love the richness of the hunter green colour. Wonderful job. My Best. Out.

Watching you open up the original cushion was kinda scary. Watching you create a high quality cushion is fascinating.

Absolute masterclass in authentic professional upholstering - you really did justice to that grand chair - I am lost for words in terms of paying you compliments for your dedication, craftsmanship, artistry not to mention the needle work prowess of a surgoen - bravo you are a true artisan (I thought there was none left.)

Magnificent! I have a Wel-Built sofa and chair l've been needing to reupholster, for nineteen years. This has helped, immeasurably!

We have a replica set of an 18th century Louis XIII armchairs that was re-upholstered years ago. Your videos show how it should be done by a master craftsman. I've subscribed just in case we need another repair it would a perfect guide. I love meticulous craftsmen with attention to small details.

I have a 3+1+1 sofa / chair set that's a similar age to this one. It's interesting to see what's inside them and how they're constructed. After watching your videos I don't think I'll try to fix up mine by myself!

You've really inspired me with your work! I'm currently restoring an art deco lounge suite with similar features to this, taking it slow and making sure I do it right. Studying your videos really helps :D Did check out the price of mohair fabric, currently at approx $600 a metre down here in Australia :P

I love watching these videos.....Your work is beyond expression...I’m totally blown away....I found fascinating you were working with moss fibers and straw....and I’m going to try your vacuum idea for sucking in the cushion......did you tape the vacuum nozzle around the plastic bag?..Another question...what type of material are you using on the cushion over the cotton.?..Do you always use this type? or just for this project.....thank you...🌺

I’ve noticed that a lot of these chairs are extremely low compared to what they are today you always do such a lovely work I’m gonna have to check your description and see if you’ve put in any of your suppliers because I’m curious where you got all those springs already wrapped up I don’t think you get it yourself that that would be an easy way to address a project quickly without having to go through each individual spring as I’ve watched a few of your other videos and I would like to Restore a few thrift and items myself rather than taking it to someone unless it’s a project that I don’t think I can handle but that was just because I’m not there yet anyway thank you for sharing I appreciate you

I have a 1930s art deco wide red armchair that's been sitting in a basement for years. It's very unique. I thought about making a long project out of restoring it. If I take it to get reupholstered it will probably cost a small fortune.

Question: is it possible or advisable to reuse an old Marshall unit? Would you need to get the springs individually rewrapped if the old cloth wrapping has torn away?
@Buckminsterupholstery
@Buckminsterupholstery 4 года назад
I wouldn't advise reusing a unit if the cloth is torn away. It isn't difficult to sew new casing and insert the old springs. It becomes a matter of time vs. expense. Overall, better to replace the Marshall unit. Using heavy muslin or burlap casing is better than what present day units are covered with. My reason for putting them in a burlap sleeve.
