1930s longcase clock with Westminster chimes. Can anyone identify the maker? The movement is not marked at all, but is fine quality with deadbeat escapement, there are photos at the end of the clip. Thanks.
Oh my god I just love that strike. Altogether it is a really nice clock with one amazing chime. I heard what sounded like a Westminster chime grandmother or wall clock chime quarter to the hour during this video. Hope you'll be uploading it,
Just to add.it was common in the 1930s for German manufactures (this clock is definitely German)to produce movements for others, which were not necessarily stamped with their own trademark.
The swirly finish on the brass plates make me think Kieninger, but I see a lot of people seem to think it's made by Mauthe. I've seen Mauthe movements with very similar looking racks for the hour counting mechanism, so it could be. Very elegant and beautiful clock nonetheless.
I am a owner of a 1903 friedrich mauthe clock,, and as far as i see this is indeed an westminster chime,, i really love these heavy strikes that some people call: (haunted house),, if u ever find out what the brand is then i would like to hear that from you, so i can get one myself because this sound is so awesome that i will replace things in a large clock soon,, pss: As already one said here in the comment section and what i have seen on youtube too: This might be an Urgos movement
Looking at the pattern on the plates It looks like a Badische to me. It could be a Mauthe but normally they have plain plates.Beautiful chimes, nice spacing and very nice tone.
