I purchased this 1930's Marx Wyandotte Toy Airplane on eBay June of 2020. It was missing the tail wing and a wheel. Overall for being almost 100 years old, it was in great shape. I purchased a tail section simply to trace and make my own. I was very happy with how mine came out. Thanks for watching!

He is restoring a toy that some child will enjoy for years to come and just like an Amish man building a piece of furniture that someone will enjoy for many years, the work is very rewarding watching the smiles on people's faces and that is the reward all millennials want from any job they do and many won't even consider the job unless it is that rewarding

A master challenge for the master craftsman. This challenge so different from the trucks and cars you resurrect. A couple of questions: 1) Where do you get the scraps of metal that you make spare parts from? 2) Please forgive my ignorance, it finally dawned on me that it was the paint and not the metal that you were testing for lead. If the paint has lead, how does affect the paint stripping process? How would you dispose of paint dust that had lead in it?
@jxavier3876
@jxavier3876 3 года назад
If it had lead you would remove it with a chemical paint remover and not sandblast it, because the lead becomes powder and goes airborne where you risk inhaling it.

Some airplane nomenclature. "Tail wing" is the horizontal stabilizer. Wings provide lift. Stabilizers, control. This toy was available in a reverse color scheme. Looks to be based on... nothing. Spent an hour researching airliners of the 1930s/40s. The first nose wheel on a four engined airliner was on the DC4E of 1938.

Chip, I have seen one other Wyndotte plane restored; you put it to SHAME! The colors are so vibrant! And though you made new wheels, you were true to the originals. If I were a kid, I would be bragging about this plane!

He replaced the metal wheels with wood. That's an insult to this old relic and the generation it belonged to.
@annettemalaski1967
@annettemalaski1967 3 года назад
@@paulsheffield4729 If you knew about the history of Wyndotte you would know they DID NOT USE METAL WHEELS! The metal used in the bodies was scrap metal, and all wheels were wood. If you rewatch the video, the wheels are dirty white wood!
