Would you believe they're about one-half a pickup group? Lud cut down to 9 pieces in 1932 due to the depression. Of course he wasn't too tight with a buck to stay on as conductor.

"Music Hath Charms" was a complete mystery till now... Harry Barris wrote it, but it's not the tune by that name used to open the pic "King of Jazz," despite Harry's appearance in same. Charley Bradshaw, an L.A. arranger, wrote the stock, which may have been published only overseas. Soloists Alex Renard on trumpet and Coco Kiehn on tenor were well known swing players in prewar Europe. This 1932 Gluskin band is seldom heard - so big thanks to Prozoot for giving us the privilege and pleasure!

I adore the two vocals, the first enjoyed in French when only known in English, and the pace of the second making a contrast - wonderful medley.

Where have you got hold of all these high quality records? They must be practically as new, never played with steel needles, otherwise they have been ruined. Sounds like real Hi-Fi from 1932!
@jnstonbely5215

Jourwalis - My beloved Dad would travel by subway to Manhattan to buy Cactus ; I think they were labeled “Cactai Needles” for our Webcor Phonograph . They cost more than steel needles but they did not “score” the records and the sound was perfect in his entire collection of mostly classical 12 inch records . I haven’t check the web. but they should still be available today..

Fit as a fiddle and ready for love I could jump over the moon up above Fit as a fiddle and ready for love Haven't a worry, I haven't a care Feel like a feather that's floating on air Fit as a fiddle and ready for love Soon the church bells will be ringing And I'll march with Ma and Pa How those church bells will be ringing With a Hey, nonny, nonny and hotcha cha! Hi diddle diddle, my baby's okay Ask me a riddle, oh what did she say? Fit as a fiddle and ready for love
