The junior series never hurt Packard in the long run and even after the war they were doing pretty well, it was when they bought Studebaker without knowing the severe trouble they were in that the company was doomed. After the war, they may not have been so prestigious, but they did develop their own very good V8, an automatic transmission as well as auto levelling rear suspension, their cars were very well made as well. They should have bought into the AMC group to be honest, and then continued to develop their own cars on possibly shared platforms, and Studebaker should have done the same, but oh well. Things really changed after the war, and a couple downturns in the economy did it's damage to the auto industry. sadly packard was doomed the day they were screwed in the deal with studebaker.

Another gem. I can just smell that wonderful original mohair interior odor. I've always loved that. Technically, Packard should've died out after the depression like so many high-end manufacturers, but they kept going, giving up their up-scale status until the name painfully died in the late '50's Those last "Hawk" cars are a disgrace to their great name. Truly hideous.

In my dreams some billionaire manufactures them again, looking just like this. Maybe updated a bit under the hood, etcetera, but still looking the same. If I won a huge lottery I’d do it myself. It would be money well spent, even if it wasn’t a huge success. Hey, I can dream, can’t I?
