Having lived thru this when 6 yrs old, made a lasting memory.Our home was under 36 inches, came back to a very big mess,We survived with OUT any help from Govt. Just family and friends who escaped this disaster.

I wouldn't be surprised if my relatives were in those pictures somewhere. They were known within the community and probably would've been in the thick of things. They used to talk about the flood but they're all gone now.

My mom and dad lived through this. He and his brother owned the Brooks Brothers furniture store. I can't identify it in this footage. It was downtown on 3rd and Kentucky Ave.

MANY DO NOT KNOW THAT THIS FLOOD OCCURRED IN THE WINTER OF 1937 . REACHING A FLOOD STAGE LEVEL OF 60 FEET ON FEBUARY 2 , 1937 .

I was 4 years old, my Mom, Dad & I were taken from our front porch in a fishing boat a block to East Baptist Church where we spent 1 or 2 nights, sleeping on the pews and floor before we were taken by boat out to 32nd St. to a family member on out to the country. GO BIG BLUE
