This is a fan I didn’t expect to acquire; an antique Marelli ceiling fan with missing & mismatched parts! I purchased it from the same antiques dealer where I got my DEMC from, and he gave me a handsome deal that I couldn’t resist, so here we are!
I’m truly a fish out of water around this fan. With the DEMC, I at least have some ideas & references from the unit that’s still in use near where I live, but I have never paid much attention to this old Italian brand other than my comments on how nice their fans look. I truly need your help with this one, as I have dug deep into websites & connected to several friends that have interest with Marelli, but I haven't got much information regarding model year, original parts etc. What’s certain is that the blades themselves aren’t original to the fan, as the motor is rated for 48” blades, and the blades that’s on this fan is around 36” in diameter. I have a feeling those blades are something fabricated by a local workshop due to how unusual they look & inconsistent the upward curves are.
I also have a feeling that this fan wasn’t used much in the later years of its life & instead stored somewhere with the blades removed, as the threads where the blade arms connect to the motor pegs are quite badly rusted, and the bolts look like they’ve sat in a loosened state for long periods due to the corrosion pattern. Plus the bearings were stiff when I got it, and this fan required a 5 minute warm up to get to full speed the first time I tested it. It spun up right to full speed just fine after that initial warm up, even though the bearings are still quite stiff.
As the video might suggest, another part that wasn’t included in the purchase of this fan is the speed control, which is unfortunate, but for the amount of money I paid for this fan, I can’t really complain. Speaking of, that odd thumbnail is there for a reason. For you see, the ever so lovely @ElectroDemolish (yes that is sarcastic, and yes I’m calling you out) decided that he has the right to use my video thumbnails without my permission for his videos that are titled "Ceiling Fan Falling Down Full Completion | Ťàřqùàĺ Ťàřqùàĺ Edition ☢ | Part 2" and "Ceiling Fan gone Crazy Completion 🤪🤪🔥🔥🔥". This fan here falls into the category of fans that he likes to use for his thumbnail, so I decided to plaster text over this fan as a deterrent. I wouldn’t be surprised if he still screenshots the video & puts it up as his thumbnail, but I can’t be bothered to put watermarks on every frame of this video.
