This is a fan I didn’t expect to acquire; an antique Marelli ceiling fan with missing & mismatched parts! I purchased it from the same antiques dealer where I got my DEMC from, and he gave me a handsome deal that I couldn’t resist, so here we are!
I’m truly a fish out of water around this fan. With the DEMC, I at least have some ideas & references from the unit that’s still in use near where I live, but I have never paid much attention to this old Italian brand other than my comments on how nice their fans look. I truly need your help with this one, as I have dug deep into websites & connected to several friends that have interest with Marelli, but I haven't got much information regarding model year, original parts etc. What’s certain is that the blades themselves aren’t original to the fan, as the motor is rated for 48” blades, and the blades that’s on this fan is around 36” in diameter. I have a feeling those blades are something fabricated by a local workshop due to how unusual they look & inconsistent the upward curves are.
I also have a feeling that this fan wasn’t used much in the later years of its life & instead stored somewhere with the blades removed, as the threads where the blade arms connect to the motor pegs are quite badly rusted, and the bolts look like they’ve sat in a loosened state for long periods due to the corrosion pattern. Plus the bearings were stiff when I got it, and this fan required a 5 minute warm up to get to full speed the first time I tested it. It spun up right to full speed just fine after that initial warm up, even though the bearings are still quite stiff.
As the video might suggest, another part that wasn’t included in the purchase of this fan is the speed control, which is unfortunate, but for the amount of money I paid for this fan, I can’t really complain. Speaking of, that odd thumbnail is there for a reason. For you see, the ever so lovely ‪@ElectroDemolish‬ (yes that is sarcastic, and yes I’m calling you out) decided that he has the right to use my video thumbnails without my permission for his videos that are titled "Ceiling Fan Falling Down Full Completion | Ťàřqùàĺ Ťàřqùàĺ Edition ☢ | Part 2" and "Ceiling Fan gone Crazy Completion 🤪🤪🔥🔥🔥". This fan here falls into the category of fans that he likes to use for his thumbnail, so I decided to plaster text over this fan as a deterrent. I wouldn’t be surprised if he still screenshots the video & puts it up as his thumbnail, but I can’t be bothered to put watermarks on every frame of this video.

It's interesting how the fan still looks nice & authentic with those custom blades

I feel like those blades are a dead giveaway that this is not an original fan haha

Neat! I haven’t seen very many videos on Marelli ceiling fans so it’s nice to see one pop up, especially from your channel. Pretty interesting how little industrial ceiling fans have fundamentally changed over the decades.

These fans no longer see much time on stage since Ton Norasace passed, which is interesting as Marelli ceiling fans are mad popular in Vietnam. I guess most Vietnamese people don’t have the culture of posting their fans on RU-vid. The original blades on this fan arguably inspired every single curved blade ceiling fans made in the years after this fan was discontinued

@@TheFanUniverseSomething I found out recently is that a lot of the “Marellis” in Vietnam are actually reproductions from brands like KTP. They perform like the real things too, 90W motor and everything
@TheFanUniverse
@TheFanUniverse 5 месяцев назад
Many of them are reproductions, yes. But what made them popular are the original units that are still in circulation getting rescued by people & displayed / used

@@katthefanenthusiast5793 I did just check out KTP and I wonder if their retro table fans do perform like the originals as well

Unique Fan! the Custom blades do look like the original ones! Bearings need micro adjustments... its not aligned properly i think.

I haven't been able to find a Marelli fan with original blades that look like the ones on this fan, that's why I don't like how it looks right now. The bearings are simply seized up, but I'll check whether they're properly aligned later

I suspect this would have originally had rounded blades, like the blades of a standard traditional-style decorative fan but rounded at the top, or like the blades of antique desk fans before they got wider

I've yet to learn whether this fan originally came with wood or aluminium blades

wow. you have found the diamond in the rough there! Im suprised that electrodemolish has gotten so low in standards that hes using your thumbnails now. also, what is that tiny little white ceiling fan mounted in between the ceiling lights?

I don’t want to appear smug, but I believe he’s missing the gigantic number of views & revenue that he once got back then, and has resorted to making compliations of his older videos with clickbait thumbnail to regain audience. He’s even made a clickbait video about his death that’s actually about asking people for cash donations. That little ceiling fan is a homemade DC fan. I made it about 3 years ago & have yet to film it

Ngl these little custom blades are neat. They almost look like if you asked me to draw a weird antique fan in art class. Almost remind me of old SMC arch-end wood blades

Love your Voltage Stabilizer (or familiarly as Stavol). For me, the best Stavol brands like Matsunaga (but the OG version is even better but the price that need enough Bucks due their HQ Stavol ever)
