1940s USHA Ceiling Fan | 900mm, 36" | review | AFW | 

I've always been a fan of USHA :3 I'm bringing over a USHA deluxe, popular, and Air King to the United States, and I'm gonna show them the power of USHA 50's and 60's fans made in India! Of course, I have a GEC Toofan, but I love the style of USHA fans, elegance in industrial styling, performance, classic design, rarity and so on! Of course, 110v 60hz is not suitable, but I'll have a testing rig to convert the power to 220v 50hz to test and eventually post the videos to RU-vid. You are a big reason among the very few who own USHA fans that I started collecting them overseas! Thanks!

Awesome fan with real broad blades and powerful motor..aesthetics also good for a fan of its era. Atleast it looks better than crompton parkinson river series

Note : This is not a 1950s Usha fan. Some ppl think its 50s but its not. This one is from 40s with shaded pole motor and both 6203 bearings! 50s USHA had 6201 and 6203 only and with plastic canopies, whereas this 40s one comes with single metal canopy!

Antique fan world, you are wrong in many places. Usha company started manufacturing fan from 1948. So it's manufactured in or after 1948. I don't know how old you are but such fans were common around Kolkata, seen both in private house and government places. 36, 42 ,48 inch were common in houses and 48,, 56 inch were common in school, colleges, university, govt offices and rail station. I don't know whether you are from Kolkata or not. I am from Kolkata suburbs I saw those in my mother's school. That fan became faulty and brought down. I specifically know that fan was from late 60. And that was 48 inch Usha deluxe with capacitor and double aluminium canopies. In my mother's grandparents house there were many Usha deluxe fans because it is situated in Ballygunge where AC was supplied from 1940s. So those fans were from early 50s. All have metal canopies and Usha regulator. Usha regulator was unique because it has 7 or 8 speed marking. Speed can be seen through a small circular window and speed can be changed by turning a black round bakelite knob. I studied in ramkrishna mission and there were many 56 and 48 inch Usha deluxe fans. I bent one fan blade and it was bent without much effort revealing the blade material was aluminium so according to your statement blades can't be that heavy. I later studied in presidency college where many fans were 56 inch Usha deluxe fans. I wet to Calcutta University where many fans were too Usha deluxe fans and mostly 56 inch. In Sealdah station there were few Usha deluxe fans till early 2000. In many branch stations of Sealdah division Usha deluxe fans were present till early 2000. Some examples are Khardah, Barrackpore, Dumdum, Barasat etc. But after 2005 all were gone ( including other antique fans like IEW, GEC, Crompton Parkinson) both working and non functional stock. All were scrapped and replaced by Orient, polar, Crompton, Usha fans. This fan originally had much more longer run down time than yours. Original bearings were also made by Jay engineering works and were ver good in quality. This fan has such a high inertia that even after switching off for a minute you won't feel any slow down specifically true for 36 inch fan.. I don't think you have wound up the motor. It looks like professional work and can't be done in 3 hours. A person who can't even tighten the screws of blades!!!! Usha fans were originally hand wound so nothing new just accept that you have done it by a veteran technician. I have seen, used, played with a variety of antique fans so don't try tomake me fool.
