I had a 1942 Harley 45 flat head in 1955 when I was 14. Wish I still had it. I am 83 now and ride a 99 Softail Custom. Still with a carburetor and air cooled EVO motor. It reminds me somewhat of the old 45 the way it runs. Lots more power, but otherwise it is still old school. Any thing newer does not meet my criteria. Jus me. But I have many fond memories of that old 45. It had to be tough as nails to stand up to the abuse of a 14 year old kid. I did learn a lot from those early days. Probably why I am still alive today. Mine had the big 2up buddy seat. I rode to high school track meet at a town 4 miles away and asked a girl if she wanted to go for a ride. She did and we have been married for 65 years. Part of the reason I still love old Harleys. Thanks for the memories. Great looking bike from any angle.
Breaks my heart that the young guys will never know what it’s like to live on such a machine, yeah some rich guys have them sitting in garages, gone are the true days of living to ride

@@asianbride6050 I'd guess around 12k it's pretty but it's a rider a correct restoration example could bring 20k they're lots of fun to ride but are not very fast

@@asianbride6050 yes you could ride on the interstate but i wouldn't recommend it 55-60mph is comfortable more and it really gets shaky. Unless you modify the bike to use a BSA or Norton transmission or get one of the 4speed German replacement trans ( expensive) you have 3 gears and can only change the motor sprocket to 33 (there were 34&35 sprockets at one time but no longer avail) the rear chain drive is a fixed 17tooth. Really, 45s are great around town and back road riders fast cross country touring is possible but really not practical on a bike that old.
