Devastating to see a tank like that used for target practice. They could have least have picked a shit tank lol like the chieftain ;-) great video by the way
Would like to see this restored to display condition even if not running though with so many Sherman parts still around and resto mods getting it running doesnt seem impossible.
Other way around. The Ram 2 never saw combat as a fighting tank due to being under gunned with the 57mm. So the Canadian's pulled the turret and designated it the kangaroo, similar to the Sexton kangaroo as well. Although turreted rams with fake guns were used as command vehicles
Thanks, yes I know but I am not a very good video maker, all that time trying to find free music when I got tanks to build. Find me a good free music track and I will use it next time.
Whoa! I thought it was destroyed. Jeez, thank God it was only pyrotechnics. This thing is a rare piece of history ever brought to life! Anyways, are you guys interested in restoring tanks? I wonder how the process works. There are tons of Japanese WWII tanks in Indonesian jungles.
Even in south america there are many cheap tanks, but there are no ppl interested in keep em' running... And unfotunatelly the majority aren't WW2 tanks, just M41 Walker Bulldogs, but they still tanks
Mick Wilson not forgetting that this type of hull isn't easy to find in great condition and that you would basically need to remake all of the tank interior.
+Mick Wilson Not to a major extent. But certainly over time. It doesn't matter how thick the armor is heat will screw around with the structure of atoms, and ruin the heat treating.
There is no way that petrol burning in there for a few moments is going to heat that chunk of metal hull, its 4” think in places, we had trouble cutting it with a gas axe when removing the transmission. Also did you see the damage the tank had had before, the heat the British army had fired into it in the past I am sure the small petrol fire will not add to any damage.
hmmmm you know how ppl make rat rods out of old rusted cars well lets make rat beams its a rat rod like tank cause get it a rod is kinda weak and a beam is strong
No wonder why there's a few of our ww2 tank relics are a few now like the sherman only a few dozens left. Most of them you seen in the movie about the Late 50's 60's 70's and 80's. Most of them actually got destroyed meanwhile others get scrapped. Why are you doing this destroying a piece of artifact that is so important. Just because there obsolete it doesn't mean we can't get rid of them wrecklessly and carelessness. You're breaking the hearts of our great grandfather!!!! ;(
It's unfortunate, but it wasn't until the 1970s & 1980s that WW2 weapons were seen as something historic to be saved. Nearly everyone considered them as nothing more than scrap metal. So few were saved. In fact, all of the captured foreign equipment at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, mostly German, was scheduled to be scrapped in the late 1940s/ early 1950s. They were only saved because an officer saw their historic value and saved them for educational purposes.
