No films of this fight. This easily is more vicious than the Hagler v Hearns. Long time announcer Don Dunphy said the first two Zale Graziano fights were the best MW title fights ever saw. At this time in his career Rocky was a force of nature. And Zale was one tough tough guy. It was the perfect match up Tony Zale taught me and hundreds of kids the fundamentals of boxing in the 60’s and early 70’s when he was the head of the boxing program for the Chicago Park District and the CYO. He was a wonderful and 😮proud man.
@@boxingpedia it was not filmed for a reason never explained. The fight in Chicago in 1947, my uncle was there, I was too young, was not filmed because the guy who ran Chicago Stadium thought it would hurt the gate because people could see the film at a theater. Really short sighted. The third fight in NJ , Rocky had lost his motivation, was filmed and shown in movie theaters a week later.
The guy who ran the Chicago Stadium was Arthur Wirtz who nixed filming the fight. He and the Norris family ran Chicago Stadium,Madison Square Garden and the Olympia in Detroit. Jim Norris ran the International Boxing Club with mobster Frankie Carbo and was involved in fixed fights in the 49’s and 50’s. The government broke it up and Carbo and his lieutenant Blinky Palermo from Philly went to jail. Norris was rich and dodged that bullet. Carbo is portrayed in movie Raging Bull as the guy who won’t let LaMotta fight for the title. All true
