Imma gonna keep my hand cranks and vent windows just because they are cool and young people won't know how to use them .

I got those for my 53 Chevy 1/2 ton. I couldn't stomach the idea of having that square switch on my door panel. IMHO a modern switch just looks stupid on these trucks and you see it every time you get in. I was going to fab one up before I found them. As always a great video. Thank you for your time.

I installed 2 sets of these on 77 Chevy trucks, one set were AutoLoc, the other were machined by myself (no, I didn't clone the AutoLoc), I did a custom pushbutton in the driver's crank handle to be able to roll down the passenger side window. I didn't like any of the factory or aftermarket window switches, the wiring took a while to figure out, but really happy with the results

Just a quick comment to add to your success add this power window kit. Regulators have an assist spring on the mechanism to help the weight of the glass go up. Now, in 50-60+ years on this planet, someone may have worked on it! Imagine that. Also, say you are into year two of your restoration. Please, do yourself a favor and #1, Take photos as their are no manuals that show everything. #2, Buy 1 gallon freezer bags & Sandwich size both that zip closed and drop a note inside as well as mark the outside of what your treasure is. #3 Do not assume everything is correct even with bagged parts & photos. #4 Pay attention to bolts, screws and parts as you take your project apart. If removing the wing window, you find 2 screws are machine screws, 1 is a metal screw….chances are, something is wrong. Find by inspection which is right. Then on your sheet of “Things to Order from Brothers” write down the screw set/part it fits or bolt to help you get it right. #5 bigger items may need tape with “Left” or “Right” written on them. After all, it maybe awhile! #6 Tape items together and bag them. This works for body shims and location after you have new hinges, body bushings and measurements set in stone that make the gaps great. I have a habit of a photo. But, long photo to show where, then close photo to show what, then I will write a description on a half sheets of paper (Tax Form Worksheets That did Not Increase your Refund I find are most Satisfying) Just cut in half, use the blank side and write Left Hand or RR for Right Rear. Print in black & white, save money but time. Here is why!!! I installed window regulators on my sons 81 El Camino and reversed then by accident. 90% of everything was marked, but not these. In my hand, I didn’t look or see anything unusual until I rolled the windows up. Even with new glass felt, these were hard rolling up & easy going down. After a nights sleep, I awoke thinking they were reversed. Yes they were! The spring came off one side and never thought about it, but the spring was tightening when rolling up, and pushing when rolling down! The moral to this story is a “Forrest Gump Moment” as “It Happens”. Either swapping regulators or reversing the spring fixed it. Thanks to Dave & Brothers for this memory. It was my fault, and will not forget! DK, Imperfect device tech, fallible to mistakes but able to correct them!

Just want to add I love your shows thank you for all you do for us car people. But I do have a question how hard it would it be to swap over a 1972 4×4 2500 Chevy body onto a 2000 or 2002 pickup frame and all of it running gears and motor. I was thinking you would get that old school look with the new technology any input would be helpful.

We've never done it so we wouldn't have the first clue as to how difficult it might be. Body mounts for sure, but those aren't tough. Steering and clearance for suspension parts might cause trouble, but all-in-all it doesn't seem like it would be too tough.

A metal part that blocks what? Which part are you having trouble getting on, the handle, the switch or the connector?

Haha, most 15 year olds don't know what to do with a window crank these days!
@kalybnielsen4183
@kalybnielsen4183 7 месяцев назад
They might be able to break the crank handle, but the mechanical part of the switch would be nearly impossible to break even being abused, they are extremely stout
