In this episode, we will be towing this 1948 Buick home to start work on it and try to get it running and driving, and return this car to the road, because it would be so nice to hear that straight 8 run again, so that’s the goal for this car

Club sites are usually the best place to find parts sources. There are plenty of people out there with the same cars that have been through the hunt already. Get that mystery oil into the engine. It takes time to work .

A wash and a interior detail would be cool to watch on this car

Jacky Chan- The Tuxedo, he was excellent at kicking dents out of his roof. I think you guys got him beat!

Very cool. Love the hood on those straight 8s. Most of the guys I watch use o'Reilly's. Some rock auto and napa.

It looks like you have a good base for restoration. A lot of cleaning will bring it back. You asked about parts websites. JC Whitney USED to be the go to source for everything prior to the modern age. You got this catalog in the mail. The company is still around. Seems they are having problems establishing a new website. Hard to navigate. But, it is there.

Check with the Buck Club of America. Those folks will know where to buy parts.

Bob’s Automobilia is a good source for parts for Buicks from the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s. I also recommend joining the AACA forum. The Buick Club of America is very active, and they can be a good source for parts + knowledge.

PLEASE!!! Don't destroy that car. Get it running but then it should go to someone who will bring it back to it's glory. That car is so complete, it would be shame to do anything but restore it.

It’s gonna get fully restored for sure down the road, just wanna get it running good so it’s not sitting around like it has been for the last few decades and put under a shelter so it’s not accessible to weather damage when it’s not being driven

What an awesome car ! I'm jealous !!! Like @ winterforce 1969 said down below Kanter Automotive will be your best option .. Just remember that she's 6 volt with 76 year old wiring .I'm not sure but she might be a 6 volt "positive" ground system ,You should check into that before you blow your lights and dash gauges . Finding a set of gauges for that beauty would be bitch . Good luck and wear a mask when you clean her out so you wont get rat shit fever or something . Cheers .

I assume that since you tried all the lights that your using a 6 volt battery unless it was converted to 12 in the past. Really a cool car!!

Yeah it’s still a 6 volt, after I know it runs, might do a 12 volt conversion but we’ll see how things go

I noticed a 1950 Buick Roadmaster in the area where you got this car.

You picked a tough one to start with. That Dynaflow Transmission is complicated and the guys who built them are all dead. The last Dynaflow was made in 1963, but yours is tougher to work on. I would suggest that before you attempt a start you change the fluid in the Transmission. Taking them out is a bear. so pray you don't have to. Also be thankful your car didn't come with power windows. If you can not get a starting motor you can send yours to "Bonded Auto" Route 1A Ellsworth Maine 04605 and they can generally rebuild any starter for around $100, Be careful of the cloth wiring. More antique cars are lost to electrical fires than any other malady. You do know how that car starts right? You put the car in neutral turn the key to the on position, and push the accelerator pedal to the floor. The accelerator activates the starter.

I will definetly be cautious with the wiring as I seen after where it was grounding out on the dip stick so definetly need to redo the ignition wiring, and thanks for the tip on the starter
