I agree that you need to take a break from the Will it Runs and this looks perfect for a change of pace! You should call it Frank, the Frankenstein 49 F1! As for your quick history lessons that could be Mortske’s Morsels or Motoring History! Keep ‘em coming!

Awesome that you gave a shout out to our local Lopers!! I feel it's so important for all of us to push for these family owned businesses that have been providing parts for hot rodders, and racers for so many years. These companies that are now competing with the big online companies, need our help to continue to do business. I actually patronize these local speed shops, because I'd rather put my money into their pockets, and my local economy. We also have Ramjets here in the Phoenix area as well. I encourage everyone, no matter where they live to support their local speed shop!!

LS swaps may be "popular" but a lot of us have it on our to-do list. I love seeing all the work and workarounds that have to happen to make it work.... turns out a lot of people that say how easy and overdone it is ...haven't done it themselves. Thanks as always for the great content!

The key word is enjoy! The process of taking a vehicle that's rotting away and putting back on the road is enjoyable to watch. It makes driving it even more enjoyable. Who cares about what parts were needed to make it happen...I certainly don't. Mortske, you and ole Duffster stay the course!

Thank you for taking a moment to call out the knobs who try to say that things cannot be done. Like, guys were doing enging swaps between manufacturers as long as cars and performance have been a thing. This is no different. Also, it's yours and you are free to do whatever you want since, y'know, it's *yours*. Thanks for the content and happy new year!
@moparfanatic63
@moparfanatic63 Год назад
Obviously those knobs don't have the brain capacity to think outside the box 🙄 , even if the engine isn't meant for certain vehicles, it's the builder's choice to make what they want work.
@prevost8686
@prevost8686 Год назад
Isn’t it strange that some “purists “ take issue with owners doing different manufacturer swaps but they get giddy when the manufacturers do it? Dodge trucks with Cummins engines, Fords with Mazda and Navistar engines, and the list could go on. It ain’t the space shuttle, it’s just a lawnmower that goes fast. I learnt that from Taryl Dactyl.

Cool Monday with Sir Moske and Duff in the morning, and Sir Puddin in the evening. What a great start to the week. The will it starts are cool, but getting projects done a little more towards becoming a finished project is a great upgrade, and will get things out of the shop for new things to get out of the back yard that you might be excited to start. Being an old school purist, my choice for power has and always will be from the same manufacturer, like Ford, or Mercury, or Lincoln for a Ford, or Gm corp products, and Chrysler corp products. But with this being said, it is your choice, and obviously as with budget builds you get what you can get cheaper, that will greatly improve performance of the vehicle, to make it more modern throughout, but make it still look original. Great channel as always. 😊

Hey Mortske, I want to thank you for all of the content you put out. I found your channel about a year ago while I was recovering from a divorce and it really got me motivated to work a deal on a 1957 Plymouth 2 door Suburban wagon that I first spotted 17 years ago and get it back on the road. It’s now got a 440/727/8-3/4 combo in it with bucket seats and a set of kidney bean mags with big and littles. If you’re burnt out on the “will it run” videos I say take a break and make content that keeps you interested and engaged. Project update videos like this are still damn good in my book. Take it easy and crack another sammich for me.

Man, Lopers was a great place to blow my paycheck in high school. I had no idea they still had a location remaining. They were nearly the only place willing to help a kid out in getting the best parts for my meager budget. The owner even set aside making a sale and hooked me up with a customer to buy a bunch of his take off parts as they were going bigger and better. Not many kids my age had a car pushing 550hp in the late 90's and those guys were a big help.

My great uncle was telling me years ago when he was doing his 50’s 5 window, he ran into the tire being off center of his wheel well, so instead of him doing all the work moving the whole rear end back, he undid his bed and just moved it forward an inch due to the gap between the cab and bed being so far apart.. killed 2 birds with one stone so to speak.. lol.. closed the gap, and centered the wheel.. no one was the wiser.. lol. Nice to hear a business like Loper's has survived over half a century. I hope some AZ gearheads hear this and support them with some business. It only means something to me, but I'd call that truck Errol. That was my shop foreman when I was a kid. He was an old junk yard dog, with breath to match. He was strict, yet super kind. He also ran the pits for a friends bodyshop circle track race car in Oregon. His wife made a huge batch of the BEST brownies every race weekend. Errol loved his V8 Dakota, he loved LS V8's, and he loved trucks from the '40's. This would be an Errol project if there ever was one. We lost him to cancer around 2006. The race track is gone, his friend's bodyshop is gone, time marches forward. But I'll never forget the years I knew Errol, '96-'06. I learned a lot.

They were all really nice guys, they even gave me one of their old Accel catalogue racks that I used in my speed shop, if it was lunch time, and I happened to be there, we would go have Mexican food at a nearby restaurant close to their building. Thanks Mortske for the tips on small wins. Great choice on a switch up from “Will it run”. But we all like those to. Please continue on the Ford Chop Top. Especially the rad engineering Al-U- Miny-Mum fittings. Along with the why’s and what for’s. If some of the original owners could have gone forward in time , they would have taken those flathead six’s out and done an LS Swap for sure and for certain. Cheap horsepower. Those guys that say “ keep it original “ meaning flathead six, don’t live in the real hard to get parts world . And I think we’d all agree your Mortske on the fly engineering is good for 50 thousand miles. And that’s a win. Not just a small one . Good stuff. 100%.

@@MortskeRepair I don’t know if you follow the national weather my friend but bad storms came through north of Louisiana and a bad tornado hit Pot County Georgia and that’s where Puddin lives and Rev Storation are! I’ve been praying for them and everyone there but I haven’t heard any follow up reports, just some injuries! Don’t know about Puddin and his family yet! I know he hasn’t put out any videos and that worries me my friend! I’m enjoying all of y’all’s videos but I’m always praying for all of y’all! If I hear anything I’ll let you know my brother! I’m watching your Rambler rescue now and trying to catch up on you videos, thanks for sharing brother and I always hope y’all are staying safe, warm and healthy throughout the cold winter there in North Dakota! Thanks 🙏🏻

I moved to this part of Michigan 20 years ago. There are no pheasants here, I miss hearing them. We have a bunch of turkeys, my sons fill their turkey tags out back on opening morning every season. Where I grew up (also in Michigan) about 30 minutes away from here there are no turkeys but loads of pheasants. The terrain is similar, it's all relatively flat farmland / forests. I wonder If it's a competition thing? Anyway, I used to be a member of Pheasants Forever as well. Great organization. I'd still support them but my budget doesn't allow for it anymore. I really appreciate that you support the health of wildlife both by donating and (contrary to popular belief) by legally hunting them. No one supports wildlife more than legal, ethical hunters. You and Duff are good people.

My take on your channel: I enjoy it. Great information and entertainment. I agree that "the will it run" gets a little old and everyone does them. I enjoy that you do not do all that messed up quirky stuff ( lightning hose, fuel make it happener, crap, etc. ). I really enjoy that you do the real world stuff and you do it honestly. You do the things I just dream of. If you didn't live just this side of Canuckistan I would pop over and feed you sammiches till you couldn't walk. I think you are correct to finish up the projects, sell them and get the $$ to continue. Just continue with what you like and those who do not like it, not to comment negatively and to move somewhere else that is inline with their perceptions. There are plenty out there that will have what they are looking for. You are not a " restoring " channel. What you create are vehicles that will do what they were made to do. Run, roll and to have fun with. I just hate those that say " you should do " or " I would do " etc. Please keep up your hard work and the countless hours it takes to share it with us. I apologize for the long comment. Thank You.

I really like to hear that even mortske gets burnt out from projects & working on same vehicles. I always love his saying at the end of his vids "get out there and finish your project". But my truck has been sitting in the garage for "simple" repairs that's turned into over a year. Wife wants garage back. Quite frankly I get pissed off and walk away cause I'm tired of it. Need to regroup two weeks later or more.

I understand all the reasons you stated for putting an LS in this and while I don't object to what you or anyone else puts in their project, I simply wouldn't do it because I'm a purist and a Ford purist at that. With that being said I enjoy whatever you're working on because you seem to love doing it and you have such vast knowledge and skills. In fact, I refer to you as Smartske to my friends I send your way.
