In this Vlog I replace the older aftermarket left door latch with a new aftermarket door latch. The older unit was new but it was over 5 yrs old and never used. It lasted approx 1 month of use before it failed. The new aftermarket door latch is made by another manuf from another country. Hopefully it lasts longer.

CC, A good serviceable OEM latch is much better than an imported aftermarket part. Good luck and thanks for watching.

Let us know how the latch holds up. Many reports of low quality junk with the 47-51 aftermarket latches.

Will do Robert. I can tell you now that I'm not overly happy with it. It's working better than the worn out OEM and the piece of junk it just replaced but it doesn't work as good as the OEM latch on the passenger door nor as good as both latches on the 49 Chevy. I believe the damaged and repaired cab may have something to do with it but we'll see how long it lasts.

A couple of questions first is that a real malt shop and do you really use malt if so I need to go to the shop second is that a loader for a garden tractor and what kind of loader is that an arc 6000 7000 the fourth simplicity I’m looking for one for a 9020 let me know nice truck oh how do you put the window stop in?

Hey Anthony. The malt shop decal & tel # were put on by a previous owner. I tried to look it up and came up with nothing. My guess is it might have been an actual Malt shop somewhere... Yes thats a loader for the Kubota BX23D SCUT (sub compact tractor). It also has a small back hoe and 5' finish mower, all factory accessories. I cover more on the Kubota BX23D here: ru-vid.com/show-UCD_FS9nyIsYxFTvbxbER7MQ?view_as=subscriber I did a couple video's on replacing the window regulator and another on replacing the window. You may find them helpful. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gmXFjocA4cY.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MhNu0C29XJU.html

Looks like it did the trick Dave, nice that you got the tie rod ends in, does Volfandt have a meaning and is it pronounced with a silent d

Thanks Mike. There'll be more on the frontend saga soon. The GMC demands unusual attention due to it's checkered past. Speaking of unusual, the moniker I use, Volfandt, goes way back to when I started exploring the WWW & message boards and I got involved in some sports boards. Although it started out as 3 separate words it's morphed into a single 3 syllable word pronounced similar to bandit but with a V and no I, LOL. Atleast thats what some have told me. I may add a better explanation to an upcoming Vlog.

Awesome video i might just keep my stock latches with all the headaches I’ve heard with new repop junk speaking of which do you get a lot of your parts from classic parts of America

Thanks Jamie. The OEM latch on the passenger side is a much better part than either of those aftermarket latches. I'm still running the OEM latches on the 49 Chevy and they still operate smooth and latch every time without so much as an easy push to close. I've decided to give them all a couple squirts of silicon spray as part of my 3K mile maintenance to try and keep them serviceable. I don't recall where I got the 1st aftermarket latch that failed within a month but I got the last one from Classic truck parts. I generally get parts from them. We'll see how long it lasts.

Nice job ,but why didn`t you change it to the Altman bear claw latches
@Volfandt
@Volfandt 2 месяца назад
Several reasons, Cost being the main reason as the truck needed quite a bit of attention. That said those Altman easy latches are a very good mod. Thanks for watching.
