1950's Master Tape Measure Refresh

In this video I refresh a 1950's Master Tufboy Brite Blade 6 foot tape measure by replacing the blade, polishing the housing and giving the reliefs in the housing some paint. I enjoy carrying a small pocket tape measure like this when hunting for axe heads at flea markets. It is very handy for measuring the eye size and handle length.

Never seen the inside of a tape measure before. After watching the outtakes I can safely say I hope I never do !! Turned out great and props on having the patience to tackle something so delicate

Haha thanks Joey! I fixed one up probably 10 years ago before I was on RU-vid or Instagram and had a similar fight with it. I'm sure someone out there has a good method for it, but mine is just stupidity and determination 👍

Looks absolutely phenomenal. Now I have to go find a freaking, tape measure. I will definitely have to try the eraser method next time I do a decorative fill. The outtakes were perfect. 😂

Haha thanks man! It's much appreciated. Thankfully cool vintage tapes are pretty cheap on ebay still and even less out in the wild. But it's a roll of the dice on the blade and spring condition. So be prepared to have a long blooper reel hahaha. The eraser worked well when I had the surface completely flooded with rubbing alcohol 👍

Thanks for sharing. I carry the same Stanley 10' reproduction. After seeing this, I jumped on eBay and grabbed a 306w and a replacement blade. Again thanks! (I think ha).

Thanks for checking out the video!!! I will both congratulate you for scoring a tape and blade and apologize for if yours fights you like mine did haha. I restored a small 6ft luffkin tape probably 10 years ago and it also put up a fight so be prepared. Definitely let me know how it goes!!!
