As a certified interior designer, I deeply appreciate your sister saying that 😂 not a lot of people know much about the industry so that is super refreshing to hear!!
I was watching this on my TV and came here to the comments on my phone to say the same thing as Kim. I truly appreciate the distinction Chloe added. Many people don’t know the difference between an educated interior designer, a decorator, and a DIY hobby. Chloe is actually very knowledgeable. Natalie is lucky to have her on her design team!
@@carlywilson631 Kim is spot on! Here’s an example for my state. In Texas, pretty much anyone can call themselves an interior designer. This can be frustrating for designers that work hard for the education to compete with for business. However, an educated designer in TX gets a leg up if they choose to register with the state. To be a registered interior designer, one must applying and test through state licensing, have a design based education, and many hours of design time. Registered designers can fetch more money and have legitimate credentials.
Lauren Himsel That makes total sense! Thank you for explaining! I was just curious because there are many successful interior designers who didn’t go to school for design, but seemed to have garnered success and popularity with their blog/IG first. I’m passionate about design, so was very curious about the distinction between interior designers/decorators. :)
I would definitely never remove a bedroom unless it absolutely makes financial sense with the comps, maybe just add French doors into that room and it can be used as a dining room or office but still have the possibility to be a bedroom if new owners need it
The level of self-awareness Chloe has when she states she is not certified as an interior designer just makes me appreciate this video so much more! People really do be omitting information about themselves sometimes, to 'look" a certain way to others, but it's important to not discredit ACTUAL interior designers, people who went to school for it, got certified, etc. YAY CHLOE! :)) and she's so educated in homes
This house is adorable and I'm excited to see the renovation process! Not that you asked, but I would highly consider keeping a second bedroom on the main floor. The home and area seem to be family-oriented and it would be more convenient for someone with a young child (newborn, toddler) to have a small bedroom close to the master. Someone else mentioned having French doors to where you plan on having the dining area so it could function as whatever room you need at the moment - bedroom, dining area, office. I'm sure you already contemplated these ideas. :) I loved the basement area with the fireplace! It seems like it will be a really neat, comfy place to relax or spend time with the family. It looked like it was exposed to the backyard. I didn't see any doors leading outside - I could have missed it - but that would be a neat feature sometime down the road.
Great family home! I agree though you really need two bedrooms upstairs, you can make it an office if you are going to live their but people looking to buy a family home would want there infant close to them. Also one of the walls you may want to take out might be a support wall. I am sure whoever you hire will know that though. Congratulations!!!! You have worked so hard for this!
lol Natalie said * interior designer * and Chloe shut it down so fast 😭 my sister and I are like this too! congrats on the new house i cant wait to see how it turns out !
Wow I didn’t think this house had that many rooms! I love this. I literally can’t wait to see the final result, I can already see how beautiful it’s going to turn out! Congrats🤩🤩
Trees are good to get natural shade during summer. It significantly decreases the cost of air conditioning because the house is naturally cooled. Just something to consider!
Thanks for appreciating that cool old stove! Ofc it’s not gonna match the new vibe of the house but I’m so glad you plan on selling it so that someone else can enjoy it. And I love the idea of wallpaper in the upstairs bathroom/“powder room”. That’s what we did in our house and it adds a lot of character, but since it’s such a small room it’s not a huge cost of time and money and you still get to try something a little different that you may not wanna do in a main room of the house!
Super excited for you! I'm 25 and just purchased my first home as well! My closing is in a month on a 1960s home and love that you're going through this process as well. Your first video was already so helpful and this is inspiring me for my own channel. Can't wait to see how all your renovations go!! Mine start after closing and I'm so excited!! I'm working with exterior designers on Fivver to help me pick a new color for the exterior - maybe check it out for your paint of the exterior. It's so helpful to visualize it before you start painting. Good luck girl~ so excited!!
ahhhh SO excited for you natalie! it's also so fun that your family is going to be so involved in the process, i CANNOT wait to see a reno series from you 💌
My husband and I are putting an offer in for a house that was built in 1955 hasn't been on the market in 50 years I guess and it's such. Blast from the past with the interior lol I can't wait to renovate it if we get it
This is so cool! Renovating rental properties is something I want to do in the future. Thanks for showing us how to do it! So excited to be along for this journey!
Could you do a video talking about how you figured out the renovation costs? Whenever I think about buying an older home, the thought of renovation costs scares me because it feels like a black box and I never know how to navigate the finances of cost of home + reno costs + how renovation loans work + how the value of the mortgage causes post-renovation. It all seems so daunting!!
wow, I'm so excited to see the progess of the renovation 🤩 I wish this was a Netflix series so I could just press next episode right now and keep watching LOL
I feel like this house has a lot of potential! I'm so excited to see what you do with it. Will you be sharing the cost of the house, the budget for renovations, what you're listing it for, etc?
Congrats!! Can’t wait to see the process and the finished result! Are you planning on selling the home after renovations or turning it into an Air BNB? 🤩
I don’t mean anything negative by this question, as I’ve been debating buying a house as well to flip and sell, but do you feel any guilt for contributing to gentrification in any way by driving up a home value so quickly only to sell it soon after? I would just love to know your thoughts on this, if you have any. Is there anything you’re doing to counteract the negative consequences of contributing to gentrification? I’ve been reflecting on the same thing myself, so again I hope this doesn’t come across as negative or critical.
I love old Homes 🏡 I bought a 1984 mobile home and renovated it as well . People was laughing but my mobile home is beautiful and I don’t pay much for lot rent . I save money and have my own place 🌟
Just out of curiosity....are you renovating to flip this house or are you actually going to live in it? It is a great house. Love the ideas for changing it. I LOVE that current stove. Glad it still works. Good luck.
When changing exterior brick work (for different window sizes )it’s very tricky and expensive to find a masonry that can match with original brick/style so it’s a good thing your painting it.
side note: if you chop the trees down that might increase your electricity bill since you will require more power to cool the house down ... but i can visualize your idea and it would show off the house more (Im thinking of ca heat tho and this house is in north carolina so this may not apply) Best wishes!! I can't wait to start my real estate/Construction journey as well
@@NatalieBarbu ofc :) also if you plan on building or doing any construction in CA my dad and I own a construction company Lugo's Construction and it would be amazing to work with you. Also we can help with any questions (building regulations are different in cali tho) bc i love how open you are in your videos and I really like how business oriented your channel is. Ive been watching for a while now and your channel really only gets better. Anyways best wishes!! Our IG is @lugosconstruction
Hi Natalie, Are you planning on onboarding an Architect and Engineer for the wall removal/modifications, window addition/removals, and exposing the vaulted ceiling ? Just want to make sure that the home is structurally sound and that the permitting processes with the City goes smoothly. 😊Super excited to see the renovations!!
Do you plan the flip the house to re-sell? Move in yourself? Rent it out? Also- it would be cool to know what price you bought the house for and what your reno budget is!
