I'm 74 and I was at Ft. Knox, KY. for 9 months. I bought a 1950 Cadillac for $400 in 1970. I drove that baby back and forth to New Jersey! I was like sitting in your living room !😂

I'll be 52 in May. My earliest memories are around 1976/1977. It was mostly 1960's and 1970's cars at that point, with 1950's cars thrown in. My grandfather had a junkyard by his house out in Antioch, KY. I very vaguely remember the smell of the leather seats, the looks of what had to be 1940s and 1950's cars on his lot :) There were wasp nests everywhere, but doesn't every junkyard have wasp nests? His house he lived in was a single-wide trailer. There was a building foundation that he had started, right in between the trailer and the junkyard further back on the property. I remember the 3 or 4 layers of cinder blocks he had started. He'd never finish that building because his wife had a massive stroke in the 1980's, and he would later pass away from a heart attack in the mid 1990's. He was a good Christian man who learned his welding skills when he was in the army in the 1940's, working on a battleship.

I've been a subscriber to your channel for quite a while. I always look for new videos from you. I enjoy them a lot. Do you ever see De Sotos in your videos? I'm a De Soto owner and I find it odd when I look at old car videos rarely is there a De Soto

These were the greatest times and cars in US history. The US has done nothing but go downhill ever since. Sadly, at 81, I have watched it's decline and now turning into it's demise. Maybe we can go out together.

These cars broke down pretty often. At least, mine did. I wouldn’t trade my 2016 for a sweet 1956 anything. The old days were great for me because I was a kid, and lots of things were different, and everything was new to me. But I like where I’m at now, except for being old as dirt, of course.

Nice pictures and mostly well colorized - but the '57 BelAir is really a Ford.

I can only add that after that little error, I watched the rest with a little jaded view, not knowing what else might have been misstated.

I forgot how depressing the 1950s was. The cars were big and clunky and rusted where I lived in Michigan. My dad bought a 1954 Cadillac and by 1957 it was already rusting out. Underneath the doors, the wheel wells, this is true for all cars because there was no undercoating to protect it from the road salt they used in the winter. Plus the cars were all huge and cumbersome like lumbering beasts. You did a good job here but I find the whole thing very depressing. Things picked up so much more in the 1960s and cars actually became interesting and fun. In the 1950s there were no fun cars for the average public.

That's why people built hot rods. Racing was beginning to explode in the US in those days.
