could you consider study the wrist pins problem & repairing that. and just put it back together, possibly a tractor junkyard part sales place would go out and get a couple of sleeves for not to much, & send them to you. Head gasket might work again 1 more time. Better than not putting it back together. Might be able to weld a patch on the oil pan. There's enough of those people selling tractor parts to get any part used . A little more inconvenient and costly if you don't live near a tractor salvage yard like I do

Wd 45 boss. I have a 1950 wd. You can tell by transmission gear shifter. Mine is straight wd bent wd45

No, mine is a WD, not a WD45. WD's starting in late 1952 after serial #127,008 had the new style of constant mesh transmission with the bent shift handle, updated from the straight cut gear transmissions with the straight shift handle. So you can't go strictly by what shift handle they have to know if it is a WD/WD45. Need to look at tractor serial number, which mine is WD137,688 making it a later 1953 WD. Can also look at wide front end mounting for clues on weather a machine is a WD vs WD45. WD's have 3 bolt vs 4 bolt for WD45's. WD's have engine side cover on block, where WD45's do not. But after this many years parts can be switched and often are, so the tractor serial number is often the safest way to know, unless the rear end casting has been changed of course, but that is not often done.

Good day from Ontario. Wow valves & even top of block look fairly clean Back in middle 60's we bought WD & it had bent gear shift lever! the clutch is no probrem, once u get used to it hand clutch is always used. our neighbour had wd , he used #40 engine with stp, had alot of hrs. Put V-6 in it. Thanks

Thanks for the comment Don, yes this engine is much cleaner than most of the tractors I start with. But it has its share of issues. Hand clutches are handy (pun intended) and I honestly don't understand why more manufacturers didn't use them. I grew up learning to drive tractor on an Allis D15 II with that wet hand clutch it was great for a kid to learn on, you can't hurt it by slipping it.

I hate to see you give up on the old girl….. too nice to part out in my opinion….. everyone has to weigh out what is best for them! If I was near you I would have you fix it and then buy it from you! 😊

I just bought a WD45. He said it was a wd45 because the shift handle is curved. Mine maybe a WD ?

It could be a WD. Odds are it's a WD45 with a curved shift handle, but not always. What is your tractor serial number? Stamped on the rear of the rear end, usually on the flat spot near the left break.

@@JacobASwanson there isnt one there. Ive looked .Must have been painted over. I need tires and they are SOOOO expensive. 14-9-28 is what it has on it. The rims are rotting out also. What other size rims would fit on this tractor.does it really need spin out rims ? They are very expensive . even used ones. Dennis

@@dennishinton1760 You can check on top where the break cover bolts on, some times it is stamped there. You may need to scrape some paint off to find it, but it should be in one of these places. Spin out rims are the best, as that is what the tractor was designed for. If you keep an eye out, good used rims are available, just need to start asking around. They can be fixed by a good welder if they are not too rotten. Often they are just rusty around the valve stem hole. Tractors are not a cheap hobby, you have to pay to play.
