This time, I visited Jodoji Temple, Fukuzenji Temple, and Sumiyoshi Shrine as filming locations in Onomichi City.
The story begins with an elderly couple living in Onomichi preparing for a trip to visit their child in Tokyo.
While their parents have moved to Tokyo, their children, who are busy with work, are at a loss to take care of their parents.
Meanwhile, Noriko, a widow who lost her husband, kindly welcomes her parents.
Afterwards, as soon as she returned to Onomichi, her mother Tomi passed away.
Her father, Shukichi, gives Noriko a watch as a memento of his wife in Tokyo to thank him for treating her so kindly.
After his wife passes away, his children return to their normal lives, and the sight of him being all alone in the end evokes a sense of loneliness.
The eldest daughter Shige's lines, ``People die so easily'' and the third son Keizo's lines, ``You can't put a futon on a grave'' have remained unchanged to this day.
Also, the expression of the ``toughness'' that humans have in the movie is wonderful.
I felt that the eldest daughter Shige had a great presence in the story.
If director Nobuhiko Obayashi's work is ``dynamic'', director Yasujiro Ozu's work is ``static''.
