Model 14A Caterpillar Bulldozer
This dozer has been in service over 60 years. This video gives a brief overview of the machine, explanation of the basic controls and a cold start using the gas pup engine.

My Dad had 3 of these but cable for the blade. Sold them in 1978 when he went out of business

Great video. Only thing I was after besides the initial explanation was a demonstration of the controls in operation. I've seen these in action and they really shake the ground.

Carb kit would help your starting engine. But u should warm it up more and wait till oil pressure is up in the big engine befor kicking on compression

My dad had a d8 about this year, pony motor was the biggest impediment to start this thing. He did a lot of work with it, and considering the hp numbers some amazing stuff. Livestock ponds. Cut through in touched woods.

Mine is a 1956 D7 C 17A new liners pistons bearings new bevel gear bearings steering clutches brake bands. Pony motor and carb rebuilt

I am corrently restoring a d8 14a just got pony rebuilt and new sleeves rings in diesel heads are back on working on rocks and setting tappet gap

Once u use a 50s dozer u can run any dozer.

It looks like maybe it started it's career as a cable machine, and then was upgraded.

That old bone sounds terrible. You are hard on that pony motor. Let it warm up. It might have lasted since ‘55 but it won’t last much longer the way you are abusing it.
