In the new Chevrolet you get all of the big, important things you want and need in a really modern automobile. (Featuring a convertible) - www.carsandstripes.com/articl... for more '55 Chevy information
My late Dad bought a nearly new 1955 Belair from a neighbor of my Grandmother. That car I remember riding in as a child. It was a two door in coral and gray two-tone. I too wish I had that gem today.
My father bought a new Bel-Air wagon in 1955. I have a nice color picture of it when brand new. We kept it 9 years then traded it in on a 64 Pontiac wagon which was also a nice car and our first with power steering. My father looked at the Nomad, but wanted 4 doors.
This nine minute commercial convinced me to go to the Chevrolet dealership today and buy a new 1955 Chevy. They probably sell for about $2,500. I am going to order mine with air conditioning, power steering and power disc brakes, GPS, a rear back up camera, cell phone charging outlets, and a CD player.
It was may 1955@ my high school in SC . As I descended the front steps there it was a turquoise/white 55 Bel Air Chevy convertible, just beautiful! 2 students hopped over the top& into the car , cranked the motor & screeched the tires out & away from the parking space.....so cool for this freshmans eyes to observe on a day in May , so long ago!
I can remember when I was 6 years old my pop bringing home a brand new 1955 Chevy B210 it was a 2 door post with factory red and white paint. I sure wish I had that car today.
If you take your brand new 1955 Chevrolet water skiing on a regular basis, especially if it is in salt water, do you think it might have any rust many decades later? 😊😊
When I was growing up my parents purchased the next model year, the 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air. Although the 1956 Chevrolet was the same model generation and basically the same car, Chevrolet did so many external styling changes that the 1956 Chevrolet looked quite different from the 1955 Chevrolet. A lot of external styling changes from one model year to the next is not done anymore with cars in the same model generation.
I love 56s. We had a 55 Bel-Air wagon and 56 Bel-Air convertible. I'd love to still have them both, but the convertible, especially. 56 is my favorite Nomad. You don't see many of them today.
It is amazing that there is such a vast difference in the definition of the word 'Safety' between then and now. @ 1:04 while the narrator is talking about 'Safety', these ladies drive by in a convertible, with a child pretty much standing on the floor between them . . . . . . . . . not in a seat, no restraint . . . . . not even a parachute. . . .
In 1955 they were hottest cars around, that first year Chevrolet set a record that's still stands today , One Million three hundred thousand cars not counting those made in Canada and exported around the world
As a. Kid we never had helmets when riding our bikes in the winter. snow we would hitch a ride by holding on to the bumpers of passing cars it was great fun
I want to order a new 55 Belair convertible all black with white top do you want the V8 sir ? yes and ad the power pack option with the manual transmission , and what color interior would you like ? the two tone red and black will do fine , your ballpark total will be around $ 2.500 give or take , OK where do l sign ?
Patrick Joseph- Yeah, GM didn't give a shit about the bearings in the engine eventually failing after everything was scuffed by "kitchen cleanser". It didn't matter though, by the time the mains, rods or whatever bearing failed, the car would be out of warranty.
You’d think that sitting on top of the seat in a convertible and steering with your feet would be dangerous but it isn’t because she’s supporting herself against the window.
Had a 1955 Chevy and loved it but the front end had some real bad Issues! Bad A arms in the front broke by cracking. Loved the car but this was one of very few things that were Bad. Still I say See The USA in your Chevrolet!
arrive alive drive and buy a 55 I own 1 - gasser ! 1 -pro street ! and a 2dr 150 station wagon and would not trade em for anything see the usa in your Chevrolet
No seatbelts. Kid sitting forward in rear seat. Driving on shore to pull a water-skier. Driving with feet while sitting atop the front seat. Safety First!
I wish my wife’s 2003 Ford Focus had rounded tail gate corners I banged my head on it and being pointed it you now about it mode cars are not has safety has you think
I'm surprised you know, with such a blanket statement practically suffocating under that naive idiocy you suffer from. Stop looking at the vehicles from today's perspective, they weren't 60-65 years old at this time.
What a moronic statement from no doubt an asshole Millennial who wasn't there & probably drives a current souless jelly mould and about as exciting as driving a Wheelbarrow!!!
Safety was included, just not all the features of today. Safety doorlocks was included, stopping the nasty habit of people falling out in turns, safety laminated windshield, high/low beams, avoiding as many head-on collisions due to blinding oncoming traffick, 4 wheel modulated breaking, safety tires, proper suspension, signal lights, defroster and forced ventilation, shock absorbers etc. This all contributed immensely to the overall much higher level of safety than say a model T. But no, no OnStar nor airbags.
Chevys were good until 1957 when GMC decided to thin out the medal??🤦🏼♀️ Slam the door and it would CAVE IN!!😲 If you hit a bump it would shake all over and switch lanes!!🤭 Really stupid as the 55/56 were super classics. 🤔 The 57 became a classic-HOW🤷♀️It also handles like a 🐽🐽
I've never heard that before. I wouldn't kick a 57 out of the garage. Their survival rate far surpasses 57 Fords even though production for Ford exceeded Chevrolet that year. 55-56-57, I'd take any one of them. I like 58s and 59s, too.
First thing I thought about as soon a the video started was there all DEAD in an accident ! Especially the kid in the back !! Then I noticed not a search belt in sight ! I dont think they even considered seat belts until the mid 60s !!
Seat belts were available, albeit optional on most American cars in model year 1955!!! So please stop making statements about things you obviously know SFA about!!!
