It's been a minute since I've had Della on the channel: time to change all that! The truck is really starting to get close to my overall vision, really exciting stuff.
The website I mentioned for Jacob Chapin's really great reproduced IH parts:

Going to the store. Watching this when I get back. Love watching these rare old 4-wheel drive IHs being taken care of.

I rebuilt a 1957 IH 264 engine and had it down to the bare block. Freeze plugs out, head off. I pressure washed in all the freeze plug passages, and the head gasket ports and the water pump attachment ports. I swear, I got 2 pounds of mud and muck out of the cooling jackets of that block. I must have pressure washed it 6 times total. I even went in the ports with compressed air, then pressure washer, then air, then washer, to try and get every bit of muck. I think my engine was run with just water for some time. Hence the mud. So check your engine carefully. With the water pump off, try and stick some long pieces of stiff wire (coat hanger) in and around the cylinders. Just to check for muck. It might surprise you. -----Doozer

The first truck i was allowed to work on by myself was a 60's something IH that my grandpa had. That's been 35 plus year's ago. Love the IH trucks thanks for keeping them going, more important sharing your knowledge!

You were asking about brass tags on the dash , you can make them the same way we used to make PC boards 2:18 boards 1:58

I have a buddy with an early 40s combine with an IH inline 6 cylinder, it had overheat issues until he knocked the freeze plugs out and used a pressure washer to clean all the muck out of the block.

@@glenncourtney4876 that’s on the list! I actually did that with a garden hose already, but I don’t feel it can be overdone at this point.

Been a long time subscriber, just haven't made any comments for a minute myself. I see you wanting to keep these rigs original as possible so that said. A man your age or close to, a canadian.... his name is Kyle Carter. His channel name is Carter auto restyling. He has great playlists, one being a 36 chevrolet pickup. By far the best teacher of using original metals, or in other builds he has done are restyling a body to what he thinks is great or best, they are his and he has a deep love for the advanced design chevy trucks in half ton models. That was from 48 to 53/4. I am not a great chevy lover, more of a ford truck guy. I am seventy four now, might make my seventy fifth birthday later this year. I won't bore you with my health problems but did fab work all of my life and can say he is the very best with original metals guy that I know of. Chip Foose level work. His humor is not for everyone but try to get past that as he can do more with original metal than anyone I have witnessed.

Your dash labels could be made on a 3D printer and copied over to a lazer metal cutter. I don't know where you're located but that is my suggestion. Love your channel and content. Good Luck with the dash labels.

Looking forward to seeing your progress. It was great to meet you down in Austin this spring! I hope you have International night again next year? I will bring mine down from MN if you do. Thanks for sharing your knowledge of these great trucks.

I think those brass tags are etched. You can make them using printed circuit board techniques. i.e. photo resist and ferric chloride etc. You just etch the backgrund so its lower than the letters, paint, then sand to bring the letters back.

Dela is a beautiful beast. I'm glad you saved her and gave her the best home. It's wild how low thar transfer case is clocked. It makes the most practical sense for pinion angle/u-joint longevity. I guess when the rest of the truck is that tall, breakover angle isn't a concern.

I spent ten years ODF in Southern Oregon. We were still driving 60's Internationals and GM's then. Anyways...we had an antique stencil cutter. We'd cut a stencil with the fire engine number and spray paint absolutely everything with that number for the gear that went with that truck. I think it was a Bradley, had a big heavy wheel that you spun around for the letters and numbers. I vaguely remember a machine that would stamp those metal tags, but we didn't use it because the ribbon label makers were out by then...long before the digital Dymo label makers. So, look for Bradley, Marsh stencil cutters and once you're down that rabbit hole you should be able to find the machine you're wanting.

watching your video and seen about the overheating issue got me thinking about my 69 f100, does not overheat but she gets really warm once I park it, I had a couple of leaky freeze plugs so I replaced them today and flushed the block...... lots of crap there. hopefully she runs cooler now.

I have a 66 D1100 4X4 with a BG 265 that always ran in the correct temp range. Then one if the fan blades broke off and l couldnt get another 4 bladed fan that would fit. The only thing l could find was a 5 blade, now it always runs cold. In the winter l have to put a grill cover on her.

Before you get to crazy with the over heat problem take the hood off and drive it and see what happens. Yrs ago when I was stuffing small block chevys in early jeeps , I was always dealing with over heat problems, make a long story short figured out the problem was air damning meaning the air couldn't get out of the engine compartment fast enough and was severely limiting air flow threw the radiator. My fix was big holes drilled in the hood , hopefully if yhis does turn out to be your problem you'll figure out a less hack solution.

I forgot to mention that Ospho is the best metal conditioner for solving rust issues. Buy it in containers and use a pump spryer for combating rust. Like the chain on the front of your truck, a simple cheap way to fight rust forever... at least a definite long time.

Very good video. You raise a number of questions or issues. I will watch again and maybe try to offer solutions. Do you have dimensions for OEM spacers ? I remember that Adirondak green S-140 , I was also in love , but time distance money and determination were out of balance then too. I should lool and see if i have any record of its sale.

I looks like there’s people on Etsy making little plates like that. You might reach out to them see if they know anything about those little plates.

What if you simply turn the dish of the rear wheels the other way? Wider rear track without spacers... Just need the dually rear fenders... Also the cab corners need a wee bit of patching.

Have you ever worked on an S130? I have a 1956 I'd love to restore just wondering where to begin?
@larryboy8821

Oh yeah, instead of wheel spacers why don't you just recenter the wheels? I know you're working on an OEM solution, but recentering the wheel is fast and easy. Did you see when BadChad took some wheels like those, cut the centers out and used a 20" wheel off a Dodge car. Mated them together, looks OEM, but now can use modern tires.
