If they weren't slightly pitched outwards from the awning end, would water pour into the dry covered area during a heavy rain? Or did Matt just say the heck with it, install the containers plumb, and Blackjack the heck out of the seams...

The old timers like I am now called the Star a Canadian Mack. But the old Star turned hard as well. We had to put an air assist on it. That seemed to fix it unless you didn't keep your air tanks drained, or didn't put alcohol in the seperator in the winter. I sure loved the old Star. It had SQHD 4.88 read ends, a 4 by 4 2 stick transmission. It ran a Cummins Magnum 400 putting 437hp to the ground. Well good luck with your A-Car.

Matt, you and my brother would get along famously. He loves to get old machines running too. He gets such a big smile whenever an old hunk of iron fires up. Especially when he has been told that it won't run due to a seized cylinder, or whatever.

Gulf Oil Corp had a fleet of these Autocars running out of Port Tampa back in the 70's. V-903 Cummins with the mufflers burnt out, RoadRanger 9 speeds. God what a show pullin' out on Dale Mabry going to deliver their load.

It has character the way it looks now. I hope like you said it takes a while to restore the truck. Fixing all the mechanicals fluids and rust issues is a good start and looking forward to seeing it towing the trailer

Probably preaching for the choir here, but still don't EVER, EVER repaint that truck. Nothing goes beyond "the original paint" !!! It is an important part of the historic value of the vehicle.

You just reminded me of the time I had to pump the brakes for all they were worth to stop an old Ford my Dad had. There was a brake line leak. I was going downhill with a stop sign at the bottom. Stopped 6 inches from the main road!

Back in my day we used to call them awfulcars. Bare bones brute strength get the job done trucks. Enjoyed the video

Definitely had to drive them with both hands, I received a broken wrist when the steering spun on a turn. Really tough, hated the thing but was only truck available to me at the start of my 30 year career. Made it 2 million at the end.

I love this old truck ! Sounds like a Harley ! Autocar look is unique and i can't avoid to remember the Steven Spielberg film « Duel » ... Great job done to get it alive again ! From Québec, Canada, mes plus sincères salutations !

I ran across your videos when I happen to see the old picture of that auto car! I absolutely love them older vehicles like yours!! It kinda reminds me of one of my favorite vehicles the old Willy’s!! The fenders, the windows! They are just way cool & wish they still made them today!! The vehicles they build today are rusted completely out by the time the motors need freshened up!! No point in fixing up a vehicle that has really light tin & all rusted out if you ask me!! I’ve been building an old 1969 Chevy 3/4- 1 Ton 4x4!! I’ve had my truck for 25 years & won’t ever sell it!!

Listening to her purring at about 11:15 that engine sounds *helluva similar* to the 1990's version in our local trains here in Scotland. I guess when you've got a lump like that, you don't need to modernise it too much. The biggest difference will quite probably be some emissions bits on the train's engines. Great to see her running and driving Matt but even better to *hear* her. I might get tired while driving that beast but I'd never get tired *OF* driving it. I really hope you can get her road-legal and put her to work properly. A beast like that will be useful around the farm but you've got tractors/dozers for that stuff ~ way better to get her out there properly. I don't know how many of these are driving about but I bet she'd be a *HUGE* hit at truck shows. I've got a funny feeling that the views on "Autocar-related" videos will be rather high too. 👌👍😁 First wee job just *has to be* the horn though.🎺📯 Cheers for now, Dougie.
