yeah, It think that it's kinda strange that people have such a low opinion of this guy, when he's a highly accomplished and very serious session musician. Seriously, look up Phil X on wikipedia once.
I don't see why people think he's drunk or crazy or somethin, he plays well and he enjoys playin guitar. Just because he's got lots of energy doesn't mean he's on some drug, I like the way he plays and I think the high energy gives it character. Keep doin your thing Phil!
thats what we love about you - the lack of pretense! btw, a friend of a friend here. I was a bit late for the KW days but heard about you (and Rocky and Eggbert) from Al for years before youtube started happening. Hope this thing with FA keeps going for awhile!
I recently got a Tele very similar to this one. Of course it's not a 57 but it's a 93 so it's starting to get a little bit of a vintage tone going. I can tell you honestly that in nearly 20 years of playing Gibsons, nothing has ever inspired me as much as this guitar has. I love it! Of course I love my Les Paul too. But nothing speaks to me or for me, like my Telecaster. I have learned more in that past month with it than I have in the past 5 years before it. Honestly.
Exactly, a lot of my friends have said I have this guy's energy, and I do have very high energy, I'm always running around, shouting, that kinda shit, I play guitar like this as well, I don't smoke/drink/drug, anything, some people are naturally high energy people, and he's one of them, and one of the best!!
Dear Fretted Americana & Phil X, this is my personal favorite video of them all. the Pat Travers bit always makes me wanna go play my tele . Keep 'em coming!
I say this with no shame, but simple out of admiring Phil X... ... He's forgotten more about rock 'n' roll than I'll ever learn. He's just that good, and I can accept that. I'll always fight it... but I accept that.
I would seriously like to point out that I'd pay a fuckload for a Phil X cover of Boom Boom (Out Go The Lights), in that style right there. Specifically with that guitar, and possibly that whole gear setup, because I think that adds to the overall Phil X badass vibe. SWEET guitar, btw. I'd do just about anything for a 57 Tele.
