A kinescope of the first half hour of the hour-long Home show with Arlene Francis on NBC Television done live on March 25, 1957. This is what Arlene was doing when not on What's My Line on CBS Sunday nights. I love the retro Jetsons logo - surprised NABISCO didn't have a problem with it.
Besides the boredom of the guitar player (real depressing songs) and creepily sung to a girl who wanted to get far away) - Arlene is a party...
Extra special is the rare live performance and background music of the Norman Paris Trio performing live on the show (opening and ending).
I'll be remastering the musical portions of this show in another video for the Norman Paris Trio.
Last I heard of him was his involvement with the NYWF 64-65 (New York World's Fair) and his work on Gary Moore's "I've Got A Secret".
24:40 - Hugh Downs introduces "You're The Cream In My Coffee". (Nice arrangement by the Trio)...

Purely coincidentally, I'm watching this 62 years later to the day from when the episode was broadcast.

Norman Paris was also involved with the 1969 game show “The Generation Gap” produced by the former IGAS producer Chester Feldman. The announcer heard here is Hugh Downs, another sturdy TV personality.

The trio guitarist may be Fred Cerchia and the bass player, Justin Arndt. They worked as a trio supporting many Manhattan cabaret singers around this time.

Unfortunately, any that do exist are probably in a College (UCLA) collection.

I love Arlene Francis, but I have to admit I found her interactions with the Turner children kind of cringe-worthy. Still, it's great to be able to catch this glimpse of her _Home_ show!

I got the GFX from an article from Google Books. a whole write-up. Cost a fortune to create (floor lit up too!). Probably was 6A. Easy to research with old Life Magazines there...

@@musicom67 Thanks. Yeah, it said in 1950's money it cost $200,000 for the studio design. Crazy.

What a shame that more of something cool but naturally considered ephemeral wasn't saved.
