On "My Car Story" we're in the West Suburbs of Chicago IL on 9-17-19.
We're looking at a 1957 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible in Charcoal Paint. The car comes with the factory 347 Cubic Inch V8 Fuel Injected engine.
The car's Owner is Ken Nagel. Ken’s had this car since 2008. Mario & Jay are sharing details of the car in Ken’s absence and this car looks “showroom” new.
If you'd like to see this car on Ken's website here is the link kennagelclassi...
ENJOY!

I’ve commented something like this before, but the style of 1950s cars just amazes me! The lines, the details and chrome accents, the details and design of the interiors; they were just breathtaking. And I’m young, just 22, but I am in love with them. I even have a book detailing every model year of the decade.

I love the respect you show to every car. Now remembering that respect is "to value and admire the achievements of a person". Wow what a masterpiece. You can really appreciate and feel the hunger applied to every single detail of the car. If i close my eyes I can almost feel the quality of the fit and finish of the vehicle, and the thickness of the brochure's pages. Gosh! I can almost smell it!

Lou: This was one of the very best cars you have shown, and I've seen the majority of the showings you have done! Your display of this auto is as pristine as any you have done. You are the best at what you do! I know you have shown cars of the same type before. It might be a good idea to do that again and compare how vehicles of a specific year and make look alike. The 1957 Chevy looked a lot like the 1957 Pontiacs. Most 1955-56 Mopar products looked a lot alike. Fords of various years were similar.

Neighbors up the street had a 55' Pontiac. An older couple. It was a stodgy old folks looking pontiac for an old couple. I never liked pontiac styling until around 62 or 63'. Still a long way from driving age though. By the mid 60s Pontiac styling was sharp. A friends father had a brand new 66' Bonneville when we were in elementary school. Beautiful.

just simply stunning!!! notice that the dash clock wasn't running- I had a 1960 Buick Electra 225 and it had an "Electric" clock that really the only electric part of was the mainspring winder was powered by the vehicle and everything else about the clock was mechanical. It seemed like that was pretty "new" for 1960. I wonder when GM started with it

More proof that the evolution of humanity peaked in the '50's. If there was a such thing as a 2020 Pontiac, it would be an egg shaped, style-less rolling cell phone like appliance with a Pontiac badge stuck over the Chevy badge. There was more effort put into the manufacture of these '50's cars than most of today's super cars. If GM built this car today bolt for bolt, it would cost a super car price too.

For those who see a resemblance to the Chevrolet's it's by purpose. Pontiac had to share above the belt line to save on production cost. Things like the windshield , door glass are the same. Look at the 67 Pontiacs and Chevrolet's and you will see the resemblance very clearly. When Chevrolet was designing a pony car the Camaro , Pontiac wanted one of their own. Again they had to share but give it their own Pontiac flavor.

The 1st. trunky treat was the standard dealer brochure available for Joe Public to go in a grab from the dealer. The 2nd. one is more of a "dealer book" shown to tough customers that wanted to scrutinize everything, or special order a car. There was an ancient Pontiac dealer in the small town I grew up in, and one of these cars was still owned by the family of the dealership. I lusted after that so bad, but they wouldn't sell!

...................great car & video, Sir! Thank you. Don't want to get personal here, but my neighbors from years ago, in the southern Chicago suburbs - Gene & Alice Costabile. Gene was an award winning furniture designer, (At least he was always reminding you of this),However, talented nonetheless. Any relation to them? I am subscribing, perhaps to help me find the right Classic Car for me, from my bucket list. Blessings to you!

@@loucostabile ........Thanks Mr. Lou! I'll be cruising through your videos. So far, I have an emerald green & white 1972 Cutlass Supreme & a 1968 GTO, red & black. Cutlass is still stock, Rocket 350 4 barrel. The GTO, I pulled the original, & put in a 400 Triple Deuce. Won a lot of street races in the 70's, as well as a lot of young girls hearts!.....I am soo bad. 1970 Lincoln Mark is on my bucket list as well. Stay healthy!

Nice Car!! My Dad had a similar '57 Chieftain 2dr hardtop the same color. So... you mean to say the exhaust comes out through THE BUMPER, NOT through THE FENDER as you stated, right??
@georgegbalzano9239
@georgegbalzano9239 8 месяцев назад
Sorry, my Dad's '57was BLACK with white/black/gray interior! They just don't make cars like this any more at all. They don't even have brochures for cars anymore like they used to. My Dad and I would go to the new car dealers every fall from like 1968 through the 1970s to "window shop" the New cars. He would buy a BRAND NEW car every 2-3 years until he died...
