Magnificent! Thank you to whoever made this wonderful video....no Big Mouthed salesguy, just the car, the tasteful period music and some great photography. I watched the whole damn thing twice.

It looks like the interior upholstery was completely restored using NOS factory materials. However, the radio looks like it was “upgraded.” My dad’s 1958 Cadillac featured an AM radio with a signal-seeking “motor-driven” tuner. It also featured “tubes,” instead of transistors. When you turned it on, you had to wait almost half a minute for it to “warm-up” before listening to music!

Yes, I have my parents 58 cadillac they bought in 1960. I noticed the radio right off. This one is a beautiful one. Mines still on the road. 😊

My 58 CADILLAC fortunately has lived its entire life in southern California. Parents bought it in 1960 from a Dr. Friend of theirs. I'm still driving it . I was 1 when they got it, I'm 60 now 😊.

How much are you asking?

A series 62 it's not a coupe deville, it's the cheapest Cadillac you can buy in 1958. So they are not the same.

Correct, its either a coupe deviile, or a series 62. I have my parents series 62 sedan they bought in 1960 . Still on the road.. so many of these specialty old car stores don't really know the details very well. I guess since most these guys were born 30 years or so after the car was built, I can understand. I stopped at one in Los Angeles there was a beautiful 58 their, the salesman tells me it has a 429 v8 with a turbo hydramatic! I'm looking right at the engine, its a 365, as it should be! Lol.

1958 Cadillac Series 62 Coupe De Ville ? The series 62 and The Sedan- Coupe De Ville are separate models!
@GatewayClassicCars
@GatewayClassicCars 5 лет назад
They were separated in 1959. Until that point, the de Ville was a trim level of the Series 62.

Okay I stand corrected! LOL

@@GatewayClassicCars nope, sorry, but CADILLAC definitely had the series 62, which was the least expensive model, lower trim interior. And came with spartan accessories, while the Deville was the more expensive model which came with more standard equipment. I have a series 62 with the optional factory air and optional power windows, owned since 1960...

John Franklin I read with interest your comment. My late father once owned a 1958 Cadillac Series 62 hardtop coupe. He bought it used in the Spring of 1960 from “Dickson Motors” in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Like the Gateway video, it was “white” on the outside, but the interior was an “aqua/green-coloured fabric.” As you stated, it was the base model, but Dad’s car didn’t have air conditioning or power windows. If you wanted to be “cool” in the summer, you had to “manually” crank down the windows. Notwithstanding the spartan features on it, it was a gorgeous car, and it turned heads wherever Dad drove it!

@@fredkelbert1913 Hi! I just found your reply. Quite the coincidence that our Dads both bought the cadillacs in 1960. My car has a 2 tone silver interior, with the outside a dark gray metallic. Its called Prestwick gray. Its a short deck car. not the extended deck. I'm glad because parking this one is more than big enough, its rear end still sticks out a little in parking lots. I was just 1 year old when my parents bought it. Lifelong Southern California car, thank goodness so rust has not been an issue. But it has cost me a pretty penny to keep it going. I drive it around town about 3 or 4 times a month for errands and stuff. Occasionally to the local car show in spring and summer. My mom signed it over to me in 1982. I have loved this car since I was probably about 3 or 4 years old lol. I'm a total car nut! And this girl no doubt got me started on that. Yes, it does turn heads, people sometimes come up to me to talk about it. Funny, I remember when it was just an old car that nobody was interested in, 60s and 70s but people started being intrested in it in the 80s. I was putting gas in it about a year ago, and this teenager, probably about 17 ,18 , comes up to me and says, wow, thats a nice old cadillac. What is that, from the 70s? 🙄🤣 . I said its a 58. He's like, oh wow, its an antique!! Yeah, I feel old. Lol. Well I hope I haven't taken to much of your time. I would like to hear more about your cadillac, and any memories you might like to share. Happy New year. Its got to be better than this one.

As the owner of a 58 CADILLAC, family owned since 1960, I can say that's a humongous exaggeration. I get about 11 12 mpg city, and 16 to 18 highway. And anyone buying these cars today should not be thinking mpg at all. They are for fun, and pride of ownership. Absolutely not to be daily driven. They are now 62 years old.

@@johnfranklin5277 Dad bought one used/mint early 60s. I was very young but remember that it was the ultimate car, best we ever had. He said he got 12/22 m.p.g. 58 has been my fav ever since. We both wish he still had it.
