Great job showing all the work it takes to pick up a vehicle.. also the breakdown of what it cost to go get one. This episode should be required viewing for the majority of people who want to buy or have somebody give them one of these pieces of History. Good looking truck.
@ClassicTruckRescue
@ClassicTruckRescue Год назад
I know for a fact that a lot of people make the mistake of not figuring in the costs of actually getting a vehicle from where it is to where they want it before buying one. To me, I just figure it in as part of the price. Sometimes it helps if you can pay for the vehicle and then have some time before you have to transport it. It gives you time to reload your wallet. I don't have a problem with holding onto a vehicle if someone pays for it and a lot of the people I buy from do the same for me. Its helpful both ways.

A 4-71 Detroit would probably be as big as you could fit in that old Spartan 90….don’t believe a 6-71 would fit. Wouldn’t bother with a 4-53, just doesn’t generate enough grunt to warrant the buzzy sound. Myself, I’d lean towards keeping it a gasser….drop a big-block in it in the same fashion as the ‘58 race transporter you have. DEFINITELY a great find and comes back full circle to your stated mission of collecting the “work trucks”….would be neat to see “Spartacus” lined up next to “Homer” and the race toter. Excellent bonus of having Jeff Bradshaw as a guest in the video…2 of my favorite RU-vid personalities. Merry Christmas to the Maylenders and the CTR at large….

@@ClassicTruckRescue an 8v71 in that Spartan?! Won’t say it CAN’T be done, but geez, you’re asking a lot of those frame rails to support that kind of weight and torque…not to mention what will have to be done to make space for that thing. It’s YOUR truck, it only has to suit YOU…would actually be easier to shove a 6BT Cummins in it. I suggested the 4-71 only because I believe that they COULD be ordered with one in ‘58….regardless of how you choose to proceed with it, I will await the notification bell and watch along with the same enthusiasm and support as before.

I used to drive a few old ones but I was not paying attention to vehicles at that phase in life. We had an old four door dump. We called the “limousine.” It carried/dumped 10 tons I recall. That depends on who you ask I guess. I personally think it is, but GM technically called them "LCF" for Low Cab Forward trucks. I've had and seen COE trucks from a lot of other manufacturers and it just seems to me like the LCF trucks share the same attributes as a COE truck. The COE stands for Cab Over Engine. Some people say a true COE is only a truck with a flat nose and a cab that tilts forward to give access to the engine compartment. Other people call 1948-55 1st series GM trucks cabovers, despite the fact that those trucks have front ends that protrude and have a short hood for engine access. Same thing with the Ford trucks from the early to mid 50's. People call them COE's, but they are configured the same way as the truck in this video. Personally, it doesn't really matter to me. They can call this truck a LCF, or a COE or whatever they want, its still very cool and a great piece of American History that helped build our country. Thank you for a good question.

Yes. I want to find a period-correct car carrier for it. Would be so cool to load it up with old trucks.

Hey Rick you can get that truck running and driving and and put Marge behind it and have a better hauling vehicle and if you're going to put March behind it you can call the truck Gomer cuz he is kind of ugly looking LOL besides Gomer right rhymes with Homer
