1 of 1,303 built! 1958 DeSoto Shopper 6 Passenger Station Wagon. This is a very rare example of a Forward Look MoPar.
This is a short and quick first look at the car since several folks have asked to see more of it! A longer in depth video will come in the future.
I roll down to Alabama to pick up this finned beauty. Then after unloading the car back home in North Carolina the first step is to raise it back up to factory height and put some correct hubcaps on.
Enjoy!

My dream car, since I was a kid, is a 58 Fireflite Sportsman in red and white....a four door hardtop, please. Never found one. Love your wagon. Your colors were very popular. I have a Johan Fireflite hardtop promo that our salesman gave me when Dad traded in his 53 DeSoto.... for a Plymouth Belvedere sportsman in 1958. It was a recession year, so we couldn't afford the DeSoto.

I had a 1958 Desoto Firedome convertible 1 of 519 made. Bought from the original owner in the early 1990s with original paint. It was very valuable and I eventually sold it for over 30,000 but now worth easily double that. Loved that car. Nice wagon!!

This is a great example of a great mopar wagon product. My dad had a '57 Chrysler wagon I loved it. Two tone blue . l loved riding in it. It looked beautiful. I remember seeing wagons all over the place all makes and models. My all time favorite of dads was a '50 ford woidie. Fad never bought new cars,, always used ones. I loved it because I always had different rides growing up. Mam, I really like the rings N caps. It was stupid lowered! Looks right and great now!!. I'm 76 yrs old I love seeing all these old rides!!!!

It's good to see that car returned to stock height. I remember years ago when a Chrysler product would come in for a wheel alignment I would check the front-end for loose parts and then check the ride height. You would just crank those torsion bars up and everything was cool; no need to replace springs or use spacers. Prior to 1958 those bars would break and need to be replaced, however Chrysler got that straightened out. I am wanting to say all Chrysler cars had torsion bars until the front-wheel drive K-cars arrived in 1981. This car has longitudinal torsion bars that extend toward the rear of the car held into a crossmember. Later, the F-body cars (Aspen, Volare) had transverse torsion bars up front and you could adjust those as well. GREAT VIDEO!

Austin, Another gem!!! I love it. My Mom's first car and her favorite was a 1947 DeSoto Coupe. It was gray and she named it Betsy.
